Got some parts today and got to work rebuilding this thing. Couldn't find a source for the KTS wheel you guys suggested, so I got a compressor wheel and housing from Turbo Labs of America along with their rebuild kit. Everything fit perfectly, little heat from a blow torch let me slide the wheel right on. Also got some new studs for the turbine housing to round it all off. Super excited to hear this thing and see what kind of power it can make.

People have had luck not doing it, but for <$100, it gives me a little more reassurance because small imperfections can become large vibrations when something is spinning well over 100,000rpm especially if you’re pushing high boost levels. I’d rather not spend a bunch of time cleaning aluminum out of my charge pipes if I don’t have to.

The billet compressor wheels are component balanced. So it's not 100% needed to balance the whole rotating assembly but it's not a bad idea either.

Been on 2 different Dyno jets. One at Fever racing and one at Ztuner. Both were about the same. Car has only gone down the track at around 400-420hp level so far. Needs some drivetrain upgrades.

I posted a dyno comparison from when we switched from a standard cast 20g wheel to the 7 blade billet wheel awhile back. I would have to look it up but at 15psi the Billet wheel made like 30-35 more hp if I remember correctly, with it being the only change. That wheel has a much larger face surface on the blade and flows a good 3lb/min more air than a standard 20g wheel. While still having the same inducer/exducer measurements.

There's no such thing as a 18g turbine wheel. If you mean a TD05h turbine wheel then yes it won't make as much top end power as the TD06sl2 wheel we're using. But it will spool faster. I'll try and see if I can locate the graphs. It was close to 2 years ago we first swapped to the billet wheel.

Hey guys I've been doing some research on the turbo I am going to be running. It's one of the new Tomei MX8270's. On paper, it has the same exact specs as a td06h 20g. I am unsure what wheel they are running, all I know is that it looks like a 6+6 blade billet wheel.
Has anyone ran this new turbo? Am I going crazy or its pretty much the same thing as a 20g lol. Below are the specs maybe you guys could tell me your thoughts?
