got vaccinated with Pfizer as well back in March thankfully. Have to say overall the US has done great with rollout of vaccinations.

Planes are pretty hairy. Took a southwest 1 hr flight 2 weeks ago and plane was more or less full. Would not be brave enough to take a 5-6 hr flight to east coast like that. However have been thankful for track events still going on mostly unhindered. That has been great for mental health.

Regardless trying to savor the moment. fingers crossed there won't be another horrendous outbreak with some mutant strand resistant to current vaccines.

I went to Hawaii in February. The required testing before the flight added at least some pice of mind before boarding the mostly full flight. Had zero issues going there and coming back. The mental benefit far outweighed the risk.

Got my second round of Moderna yesterday. I have some mild soreness at the injection site, but I'd gladly accept that in order to sleep as hard as I did last night again lol

The reinfection after vaccine does have me concerned, but appears to be lower than the flu shot so idk. Might just have to get re-upped every year or two as it mutates. I don't think it'll be a one-and-done type of a thing. More like an EA expansion pack kind of a thing.

India gettin rekt by some mutant covid currently makes me not all that confident that Covid is going away anywhere near as quickly as we're acting like it is. It's like people think just because there's a vaccine that it's "over" and can rawdog all the fresh air they want and start putting fingers in each other's mouths again. We're just a bunch of dirty, lazy, selfish idiots living in denial. I would be 0% surprised if the human race gets taken out by a plague in the next 100 years

He added: “Most of these illegal immigrants coming in haven’t been vaccinated. They’re being put in cages with other people who are Covid-positive; they’re spreading Covid and then releasing Covid in our communities. This is lunacy.”

This is cringe inducing considering the republican hostility to the vaccine.

i just keep my distance from people , and keep good hygiene.

Amen, all we have to do. Anyone here have kids? Anyone here actually looked up whats inside some of these required shots that out infants need? Joke, all kinds of bad metals, chemicals. How is the Covid shot any different than that or a flu shot? If it has to be every year and reoccurring why even get it? Last time I got a flu shot I was a child and have been fine ever since :drama:

Yes multiple kids, all vaccinated.

Thimerosal (ethylmercury)
Why is it used? This mercury-containing ingredient has been used as a preservative in vaccines since the 1930s. Today, it is only found in vaccines for influenza. Preservatives are necessary for preventing dangerous bacterial or fungal contamination, but thimerosal has since become a major source of vaccine safety concerns.
Health concerns? While mercury is a naturally-occurring element found in soil, water, and food, large amounts of it can be harmful, especially for children. Back in 1997, children were receiving three vaccines that together contained more mercury than the EPA recommended limit (though not more than the FDA limit). This led to speculation that thimerosal in vaccines could be linked to autism or other conditions.
Is it safe? Years of research have reduced concerns here. The type of mercury found in thimerosal, ethylmercury, differs from methylmercury, the type commonly found in fish and known to be harmful in large amounts. Ethylmercury is broken down and excreted from the body much more quickly than methylmercury, and no scientific study has found a link between ethylmercury and autism or any other harmful effects.
Amount in vaccines? Nonetheless, several public health agencies and vaccine manufacturers agreed in 1999 to cease using thimerosal as a precautionary measure. Today, no vaccine contains Thimerosal except the influenza vaccine, and Thimerosal-free alternatives are available.

Aluminum
Why is it used? Aluminum is used as an adjuvant in vaccines. That is, it makes them more effective by strengthening the immune system response. Thanks to adjuvants, people need fewer doses of vaccine to build immunity.
Health concerns? Sometimes the mention of aluminum in vaccines makes parents uneasy; that's because there has been some evidence that long-term exposure to high amounts of aluminum can contribute to brain and bone disease. However, aluminum is naturally present in water, foods, even breast milk. Aluminum has only been shown to harm people if absorbed in very high amounts and when a person's kidneys aren't working properly. In contrast, the amount of aluminum in vaccines is negligible.
Is it safe? Aluminum is the third most common naturally-occurring element, after oxygen and silicon. It is found in plants, soil, air, and water. A breast-fed infant will naturally ingest around 7 milligrams of aluminum in her diet throughout the first six months of her life. In contrast, the standard vaccines administered over the first six months of an infant's life contain an average of just 4.4 milligrams of aluminum. Aluminum has been used safely for over six decades in vaccines, with no scientific evidence indicating otherwise.
Amount in vaccines? The amount of aluminum in vaccines is tiny. In fact, babies always have a small naturally occurring amount of aluminum in their bloodstreams, about 5 nanograms. The quantity of aluminum in a vaccine is so small it doesn't cause any noticeable raise in this base amount found in the blood, even immediately after an injection.

Unvaccinated kids are doing just fine too, that?s what I love most about living in the land of the ?free.? You?re able to believe what you want until you?re not the popular vote. Glad you feel safe in doing so, it?s your right above all else. Just like anyone else?s right if they chose to not get vaccinated yes? :nono:

I was not arguing whether a person has a right to get vaccinated. You brought up concern for the stuff in vaccines so I posted a multitude of sources about said subject.

so in the course of a year we've gone from hospitals being massively overwhelmed, covid cases basically untreatable, rampant deaths caused by covid and by co-morbidities

to:

covid cases requiring hospitalization overwhelmingly non-vaccinated people (the last numbers I've found were ~95-97% of new covid cases are non-vaccinated persons), and the few vaccinated persons who do still contract covid are now experiencing only mild symptoms, akin to a flu. Rare circumstances still exist where hospitalization is required, but fatalities have fallen to near zero amongst vaccinated people.

I wonder if the people who refuse to get a vaccine on the grounds that "big pharma is evil" ever realize, as they're dying in a hospital bed full of pharmaceuticals, that big pharma wins either way.
