Before I just go at these things with a set of vice grips, what is the safest way to remove these myself? I know that its just oil suction is holding them in there but i also know they arent cheap to replace. I don't think it makes any difference but its a 52F head with stock hydraulic lifters. Ill try just about anything but I really dont want to crush one of these trying to pull it out.

I used my fingers, just wiggle them out.

I first tried a magnet. It got some of them. The others...fuck it needle nose!

There is an oil port directly on the inside of the lifter, closest to the cam. Take an air nozzle with a rubber tip, press it up to the port and blow some air into it. Be careful and hand a hand with a rag over the lifter you are trying to remove, it will launch. Keep an idea on what lifter came from what hole as well.

I used a rag over the lifter and vise grips. I tried everything except what jr ss said which sounds like a great idea.
My lifters were stuck pretty bad, but the vise grips got them out.
Just take you time.

I usually just use a nose pliers and a lil wiggle if theyre stuck in there.

Awesome advice, they all came out and I only damaged one. Not bad for my first time.
