Okay so ever since i put this motor in my car a few months back it has never run right. its a 97 ka put into my 97s14. the car has no EGR, or Evap( no emmision stuff) has stock exhaust, only 1(front) o2 sensor. I say it runs rich because i get 20 mpg driving like a grandma(250 miles per tank compared to my friends 400!) and i get popcorn when i decel in gear around 1800 rpm(beacause unburnt fuel is in the header where it heats up and explodes correct?)

I have replaced plugs, wires, rotor, cap, check timing, tps... all are good.

Now i have codes 41, 103, 105............. and 25 popped up today...

41 is Intake air temp sensor, now i have the sensor so it should be good. when i try to clear the codes w/ a scan tool all will clear EXCEPT this one. Do i have a wiring issue somewhere? what could cause this

also from whatr i have read here and in the FSM this IAT does NOT effect engine control correct?

103 is nuetral sensor, i have no lower wiring harness going to tranny....does not effect how car runs.

105 is EGRC solenoid, again i dont have this, would this cause engine to run rich?

25 is IACV im going to clean that for now, idle was okay today, this is new so it is not related to issue

All in all i would say the car runs pretty well, idles smooth has very minimal hesitation but im burning gas and its costing money! so help me outs guys

Can someone answer this part at least? im really trying to get this figured out!

The IAT effects the reading to the ecu and the egr will cause the mpg depending on how you removed it and what resistor was used etc. that could be a problem.

no resistor was used, what do you mean "depending on removel" i removed all of it, every single thing that is not needed to run a motor is gone. excess vac lines, charcoal canister all that shit gone.

It effects Engine control? Yes it reports a reading to the ecu but many sensors only"report" not truely effecting performance if you will.

and why can i not clear the code? issue in the wiring itself?

also here is a bit directly from the FSM, the last line being of importance.

Correct it is used to help predict air trends. Has long as it's present it should be fine though. I know most people just tape it to the side of the engine bay when you have an aftermarket intake and there is no problem. And did you place a resistor in the egr harness so it would still read correctly ?

your obdII, now you need a resistor on the EGR temp sensor, and I would plug the EGR/EVAP solenoid back in if you still have it

The temp sensor doesnt control engine op, its only used to monitor the coolant temp relationship.

I would now look into the knock sensor.

Im having the same issues with the same codes, im thinking the NPS and VSS on the transmission will affect engine operation.

I have a resitor in place, still throws code, will look for solenoid but.....pretty sure its long gone.

Knock sensor was replaced recently.....ran way worse then.

I am really wondering about those lower harness connections.

Have you thought about putting in the other o2 sensor?

Do you mean the one after the cat? i have no lower wiring harness, i have tried to figure it out but had no luck...

today the car has gone completely retarded. still same codes but it will barely run, literally too slow to drive on public streets its dangerous....shitty idle backfire... starting to look hopeless for this thing.
