Just got another SR and the front of it is covered in oil that had been leaking out from somewhere. Can't really tell if its from the front main seal or around the front cover. Would you replace the whole oil pump assy or just the main seal?

Probably the main seal

Just check the cover for cracks, if none are found just replace the seal

try cleaning it up and find where its leaking instead of just guessing

a couple cans of brake clean should do the job

lol i JUST did this a few hrs ago.
sprayed the front cover with brake cleaner.
wiped it down nice and clean.
started her up.
revved it a little..
and watched oil run down that cover from behind the pulley.

dude...

the front main seal is like one of the easiest things you can replace.

The motor is sitting on the ground. I have cleaned it, thats why its hard to tell where its coming from

i guess its somewhat easy..

never done it before.

looks like you jus have to remove the shroud, fan, belts, pulleys/crank pulleys and then replace that seal? that sound right?

It's behind the crank pulley man. Remove whatever you have to in order to get it out safely.

Rent a pulley puller you will need it. Leave the crank pulley bolt threaded partly in while setting up the puller so it has somewhere to put force in the center.

This is an easy job especially with the engine out already. Just don't scratch the front cover prying that seal out.
