I am testing the compression on my s13 sr20det, I want to know what the amount of full cranks i need to do to get an accurate reading. I am doing 5 cranks right now and got these readings. 145 -140-145-145 being the first reading is the pistion closest to the radiator.
please help because i need to know how many complete cranks i need to do to get the proper reading.

5 cranks should be enough. should stop as soon as pressure stops going up.

Your compression is good, the main thing is to make sure the values are reasonably close to one another. Your readings could be low because of a crap gauge.
Previous poster is right, crank until the pressure stops going up.

5 cranks is enough...plus the number you got are pretty consistent for an SR20. If it lower than 125-130, then i'd start worrying.
