Look under your brake pedal and check for both rubber stoppers. The switch hits that rubber stopper and thus your brake lights go out. Without they will be on just like you were pushing the pedal down.

^thats what happened to me. i found the rubber stopper in pieces over the floor. all i did was take the one from the clutch, put it on the brake side. then got a penny and use some tape and wrapped it around where the rubber stopper was for the clutch pedal. works fine now.

Or you can use a round clip from your interior panels.. just about anything works.. when the solenoid is pushed down it stops the lights from coming on. It just needs to contact something. Without it, as the others posted, the lights will stay on indefinitely.

It's a miserable ordeal if you don't drop the steering wheel when replacing the rubber stoppers. And I tried the bolt, the glued nickel and other tricks. The stock stoppers work the best.

+1, shit happend to me a couple weeks ago. Neighbor came knocking on my door and told me my brake lights been on all day. Fucking stopper came undone some how even tho I didnt drive the car for 2 days. I just got a bolt and a nut, slipped it on and tightened it. That shit wont even break again. |
