Nasty coolant leak, check this out
Well my car has always leaked a little bit of coolant, so im always having to bleed the air out of hte system and top off hte radiator... but today after i did it, it seemed to be leaking a lot more than usual, so i jacked up the car to take a look and this is what i found.. here is where its leakin...
yeah, that looks pretty gross........... So, what do ya think i ought to do about it? lol . Most likely ill just hope it holds untill i get my funds for a new engine haha. Thanks in advance |

Oh my god, that is gross. I wonder what mine looks like. There are A LOT of 240's out there that haven't been maintained.
How are you going to flush that out? |

isnt there supposed to be a cap there or something???? I forgot what the holes are used for, machining the block or soemthing?
my coolant isnt really dirty or rusty at all... i redid the whole cooling system maybe half a year ago after my stock radiator blew, so it has all been flushed. But that, looks like some nasty silicon or weird ass shit i dont know |

Dont know if its true but someone once told me that those are "freeze caps". So if there isn't enough anti-freeze or it gets too cold then it will push out the cap and not damage the engine.
Whether that is true or not, I think that if you can find the right cap size it should be easy to replace. just drill a small hole, hook something in there and pull out cap, and pop a new one in. Agian, I'm not sure if this really works, but its worth checking out. If you did that though, be sure not to let an drilled metal fall in the engine. Jason |

freeze plug. Not the easiest to work on. Usually requires the motor to be dissassembled. I would clean it really well, then try to get something to seal it. But usually when something is pushing out from the inside like that, it's hard to seal it on the outside. Good Luck.

Just get another freeze plug in that diam. Drain the block and shove a screwdriver into that one and pry it out. Then tap the new one in along the edges.
This is a lesson on why you should flush out your coolant |
