Wiring Problems. HELP

OK, i have an SE hatch..(powered everything)

I got this dumb ass idea that i would cut into my interior wiring harness and start deleting everything i didnt need.

I took out everything except pwr-windows, pwr-locks, radio, tail lights, and fuel pump.

When cutting out the things i dont need all i did was cut the wires then trace it back to the fuse box and de-pin the wire.

After taking everything out i plugged the harness back and and tested it.
Everything works except my radio and roof lamp.

The roof lamp fuse keeps popping.
Ive search over and over again for a short and theres nothing.

Also my biggest problem is that when i take the key out of the ignition everything still works.. I can roll my windows down without the key being turned to the acc position.

Im not in the situation where i can just go buy another harness.

Please help.

Have you checked the fsm diagram?

Asking the internet to fix a mess that you created is kinda stupid. Don't want to be mean, but really. I'm sure you know how to wire up items individually, you'll figure it out.

doh >_<

download the fsm or buy the fsm from www.alldatadiy.com

then go up under the interior lighting circuit and the radio circuit. go over the diagrams and match up what you have to how it's supposed to be and i'm sure you'll find the problem.

you probably are off a pin or two on one of the plugs. basically just double check your work and make it match up to how it's supposed to be. it's like tracing someone elses drawing, you can do it.

i would start with the dome light circuit as it's just like 2 wires. get that straight then continue. that's probably the problem since it gets fed straight up battery voltage at all times and the door switchs etc is what gives it the ground, so if you miss-pinned it to like an accessory power supply aka radio, then it'll keep your accessory's powered up even after the key's off, which is what it's doing...

best of luck,

Dave

i swear, everytime i read a post that has a reply from Z U L8R its always productive and helpful.

keep on helping Dave

and to stay on topic, i had the same prob with my wipers.

i accidently switched pins, and left the power on them.

so as soon as id plug in the wipers, theyd start.

so my best bet, and like Dave said, just look at the FSM (dont know what it stands for, but it has all the wiring diagrams lol) and just follow the wires.

Does the dome light pop the fuse in the OFF, DOOR, or ON position? That can help narrow down which circuit is causing the problem.

I think you have ground and power mixed up somewhere. Many issues with things being on when the key is removed is caused by current backwashing through the ground wire.

Common problems can be found with grounds that got cross with power, either by shorting out at the connector or a wiring mistake.

Thanks for the help Z U L8R.
Im still trying to figure it out.

It blows the fuse on the off and on position and it still blows it even if the key is out of the ignition.
