Is there any way to run new wire to these speakers? I know I can feed it down with the other wires, but it looks like I gotta take the damned door off. Anyone have any experience?

When i ran 12 gauge into the doors I did this:
-Get 4 rubber grommets
-Drill hole in door (below harness)
-Drill hole in car behind kick panel
-Pop in grommets
-Run wire in and under carpet.

I've since had to replace the wiring harness in the door (seperate problem) and now see how easy it would have been to run the wire along w/ the other wiring; so:

-remove trim under steering column (where hood release bolts to.)
-unplug door wiring harness from 2 locations under dash
-pull harness out of car but leave attached to door
-pull door grommet out so that half the harness is in the door and the other half hanging out of the hole in the door.
-remove electrical tape
-run wire thru hole in car and thru 2 grommets and into door
-tape harness back up again
-re-install harness

The second way sounds a lot worse, but let me tell you; it would be worth it. I ran 2 pair of 12 gauge into each door and it looks fine but method 2 would have been a lot cleaner and easier to do.

All you have to do is attach the speaker wire to a straightened metal clothes hanger, then grease it up...and poke it through. This also is handy for fishing the speaker wire under your carpet.

Ok, I know most of what your speaking, except for pulling the harness outta the car. I see the two harnesses that connect underneath the dash, but they appear to be attached to a metal side bar. These just slide off? Or pull off?

Also, once those are unplugged, can you pull them through the grommets? The wiring between the door and the side of the car seems like a really tight space. I destroyed my hands trying to figure out where the rubber ended.

Once you disconnect the 2 harnesses they should hang freely (if not then ease the plastic anchors out of the sheet metal).
then you can pull the part that goes under the dash out of the hole in the side of the dash and work on it. Nothing under my dash is where it used to be and it's really hard for me to work under my dash w/ the alarm there but if you can access it easy then mb's method might be easier than mine; just don't mess up the wiring running between the door and the dash w/ the coathanger, that would suck.

Thanks mrdirty. I basically did what you did, and it turned out damn clean. Plus the new speakers sound wicked. The rubber grommets made it look basically stock too. Thanks again.
