Anyone know how to bypass the head light retractor control and switch the headlights on?  I rigged a switch to stop the while they're going down, but I also want to be able to add another switch to either turn on the regular or high beams when the lights are halfway open.  Basically I want to be able to turn on the lights with the retractors down.

buy a pivot headlight controller and save yourself the trouble...or make friends with an electrician and have him rig you up one....
i think they cost like 40 bucks and they arent too hard to install

See, the thing is I already have a switch installed that controls how high the lights stay when they're turned off(it only cost 3 bucks).  Thats basically what the Pivot does right?  I just need a way to rig another switch to turn the lights on without affecting the retractor..

I'll post the exact page that I got this from when I get to work tommorow because I can't remember the exact URL. It was something like tekryder or something. Well anyway, if you take out the headlight retractor switch on the left side of the steering console (the one when you push opens the headlights). If you disconnect it you'll see that the connector looks kinda like this

Well any way you'll notice that theres two rows of three wire and on the bottom row the middle wire is green. All you have to do is throw a toggle switch on that wire and install the switch wherever you want. when you turn on your lights the headlight popsup and then when you turn them off the lights won't go down. when you flip the toggle switch, the lights start to go down and then you flip the switch again to make them stop. It takes a couple of practices to get the timing right, but its cheaper than paying up to 90 bucks for a name brand controller.

that's sooo sweet!! i think it's possible to turn the lights on while in sleepy mode by running our own power wires to the lights and also using a switch..

yeah, I'm trying to figure out what wires control the actual headlights because I think the headlights and the retractors are seperate from each other. &nbsp;I don't have a FSM but I have a chilton. only thing is that I don't know how to read the schematics and on top of that it doesn't tell you what wire is what color. &nbsp;I should be going to a electrician or something but that'll be too logical. &nbsp;I like having to dig around my car to make something work. &nbsp;
