Timing Fluctuation please help

ok, i have been trying to fix my car for about 2 weeks. when i try changing my timing.. unplugging the tps yada yada.. i know the routine.. it makes my timing change so say i set it to 20 degrees.. i turn the car off reconect. start car and check timing it goes to 0 degrees.

tps reads .45.
cleaned out the iacv..
pulled codes got crank position sensor.. replaced my distributor since thats where its located on ka24de motors.
and my timing is still all whack..

maybe bad wiring in the cps?
bad iacv?

any help would be appreciated... i dont want ppl telling me to search first cuz trust me i have been non stop researching about it.

Update: pulled codes got air flow meter circuit.. Wiped the code didn't come back.. Now after driving the Ecu reads 55 no malfunction.. But still not operating how it should

try a different timing light, and make sure the direction of the pickup on the plug wire is correct, most timing lights will read different depending on the orientation of the pickup.

Don't bother checking timing with the TPS connected, they have you disconnect it for a reason to set timing. If it was going to be the same when plugged in there would be no reason to unplug it.

As for the codes IDK but your chasing ghosts with the timing.

well i know the timing light works fine cuz it works fine on my friends 240. its his light. and the problem is if i set it to 20 degrees with tps off.. which is hard sometimes cuz my idle keeps fluctuating making it go from like 18 degrees to 24 degrees. and if i go to get it smogged you shouldnt have to disconnect the tps to read the timing. so although its set at 20 with it disconnected when the smog guy goes to check it, it will read 0

Your smog guy is not doing it right, every check I have had done they always have unplugged it, and that was per the instructions they have in their book.

*unplug IACV*, not clamp the hose. Nor open the hose. Electrically disconnect it.

Your timing should not change at idle between 800 and at least 1500, so you can try to set it higher.
