XS turob vs S15motor
there both almost the same price. Around $4grand. Dont you think itts just worth it to spend the extra money the motor. You have a bunch more HP and you don't have to worry about boost on your stock 9.5.1 Pistons. Also.. Does anyone know if the Air Conditing will still work if I drop a S15 motor in?? |

This may seem funny to you guys, but what are the exact Stats for the S15 motor (rather the car itself)?

Enter Nissan’s Silvia (S15), the 99 year model entry into the automaker’s japanese sports car lineup. While our beloved 240sx (S14) met that big garage in the sky in ’98, it lives on in Japan. The newest Silvia is powered by the race-worthy SR20DET four-banger. Even the US 240, with its torque-rich KA24DE truck engine, couldn’t match the sheer horsepower produced from Nissan’s SR20DE motor (also found on the Sentra SE and G20) mated to a turbocharger. Grab hold of the Silvia’s 6-speed shifter and this stallion will take you 0-to-60 faster than an old school 300ZX Twin Turbo can.
That insignia on the hood looks like a lightning bolt and I can see why. Quite the bargain if you consider that two stock Silvia's can be picked up for about the same price of a Honda S2000—especially when the 2.0 liter outputs as much as the S2000 and then some. Hard to believe this much can be had for under 20,000 US dollars. Nissan Silvia (S15) Specifications Configuration Front engine / Rear wheel drive Engine Aluminum 2.0L DOHC Inline-4 16 valve with intercooled turbocharger (SR20DET) Horsepower aprox. 250 bhp @ 6,400 rpm Torque aprox. 202 ft-lbs @ 4,800 rpm Transmission 6-speed manual Length 175 in (4,445 mm) Width 66.7 in (1,695 mm) Height 50.6 in (1,285 mm) Wheelbase 99.4 in (2,525 mm) Weight 2,734 lb (1,240 kg) Tires/Wheel F: 205/55VR16 R: 205/55VR16 Suspension F: Independent - Struts R: Independent - Multilink |

I was looking for an S15 motor a long time ago. But realistically, to have the motor and tranny in your car and the car running, you're going to spend much more than 4,000. You would be lucky to get an S13 motor installed and running for $4,000.

Bomex has got a point.
likely it'll cost you an extra grand or two for the full installation. the motor for $4k sounds rite tho.. doing the SR-swap costed my friend $6k-ish, that included doing everything tho, intercooler, blow-off valve, lah lah lah. etc., |

I've done two SR swaps and they weren't all that hard. If you have pulled engines before it can be done yourself. There are tons of sources for step by step procedures online......

Say about 3,500 for the motor. About $800 for the intercooler and piping. About $1,000 for the install. That's major stuff, but then there's clamps, wires, fluids. not to mention BOV, turbo timer, boost controller. Guages, pods.... clutch.... I hate talking about this.
You don't need all of this stuff, but these are all things that you will need to get at one point or another. |

I already have a greddy turbo timmer gauges, gauge pods and a clutch on the way. Its the ACT street clutch. well I guess that clutch wou;dn't do any good it a SR. Well I think I'm going to go with the XS kit. How is your reliabilty with the kit Bomex?

Sorry, I don't know completely because I haven't had a chance to run it hard. I was begining to break in the clutch and now I have been taking the bus to my school because it's so far. But when I get a chance to run it, I will let you know.
