i just installed one and saw no need for any sleeves. mine works fine.
here's the solution to the length problem that i came up with because i forgot which side was which. take a screwdriver (or anything long and skinny) and stick it in both sides, whichever side it goes in farther, that's the side for the longer shaft.

FUCKING SHITE!!!! This s15 thing is getting stressful right now. The leadtech at my work has never done one before and is nervous about doing it and now this came up. My car is at my work right now with the tranny pulled and I was going to do the diff tommorow but guess not! Does anyone have a FSM where this is covered as well?? I'm seriously getting stressed as f, I have so much work to do so soon. Approxiamately how many of these shims do I need per diff?? Its at my work so I cant go count but I'm going to try and get some turned. Jeff, if I do I'll get some thrown out your way. My friend works at a machine shop where they specialise in brass so hopefully he can help me out here

as long as ur doing this while diff is in pumpkin. i found on the s15, the longer shaft goes in the side that the spacer washer is on(the tapered washer that goes next to shim) as for the shims: there are 2 per diff carrier, one on each side, i was in the [email protected] house because my 2 shims were same size and i needed adjustment, so i had to fly one in. sleeves: to anyone who says they dont need sleeves for the bolts: this may be true as r200 diffs are overbuilt for 240/180s. however, if u plan on putting down the power, why not go the extra mile to do so, radial movement of the ring gear is not a good thing. trust me, ive been through 2 ring and pinion sets, and a diff in my chevy. drivetrain strength is something u never think of until u break it, and ur car spins out because your back tires have completely locked frozen. if u guys really need the sleeves, i can prolly make somemore up, i only used brass cuz it is quick, turning down stainless or steel is too time consuming and quite frankly sux when ur shaft id is so close to the od. |

Where did you learn to do the r200 differential though?? Any FSM link that anyone can throw my way? I just want to be able to give my friend all the information he could need.
UltraDork, my friend is actually from Hawaii originally and damn pissed off that he is stuck in Florida now(wife)..."Worst decision I ever made"

Gees, since we use a R200. I guess that we can use a Subaru diff as well since they use the same one for the sti setup. Plus, I know someone that uses these in 510s. FSM below

s2000's in ap2 chassis is an hlsd not a vlsd also, im under the impression that ap1's had hlsd too, same torque biasing ratio found in acura tl type S. and btw, torque bias/sensing = hlsd. |
