Hey guys,

Did a search and didn't come up with an answer other then "bleed the system" which I think I did and I don't have any overheating problems.

Did the water pump on the KA24E today. After done and filling it up with coolant I noticed the lower rad hose would NOT get even the slightest bit warm..

Idled it for about an hour and drove it and still wouldn't warm up.
Filled the system, drove the car up on ramps, pulled the bleeder screw, cranked the heater, EVERYTHING and still won't heat up.

Temp gauge doesn't go above normal operating temp. stays right where it should.

Rad is about 2 years old, heat inside works great.

Just wondering if I should be concerned or thats the way it is this time of year here..

May change the T-Stat just to see if it makes a difference..

change the t-stat. drilling a couple of 1/4 inch holes on the t-stat helps in bleeding air out. i do this on all of t-stats i replace.

It's because the KAE doesn't put out enough power, and thus generate enough heat, to overload the radiator. By the time the water leaves the rad it's already been cooled to ambient temperature. You either need to get a smaller less-efficient radiator, or an rb26

I wish I could put a RB26 in my little Hardbody pickup..haha

Just posted in this forum since same motor and this forum gets way more action then any hardbody forum.

Going to change the T-stat tomorrow to see what happens.

Well if its not overheating then I dont see a problem..

It will get less MPG with it not warming up. The factory gauge leaves some thing to be desired. It tells you that you are cold, operating temp or when you are over heating. That is about it. the fact that you are getting heat inside is a good sign. I would guess the Thermostat as well.

What's the reason you decided to change the water pump? It sounds like the thermostat like everyone mentioned, any time I change things with the cooling system I change the thermostat, it's only like $12 anyways, just get one and replace the old one

Water pump was leaking so that's why it got changed.

I'll give the thermostat a change and see if that makes a difference.
