Hopefully I get more people going than at my bike. Looks like a lot of hiking with a 40lb bike. |

i think your better off riding your dh sled somewhere else. this area is all new territory for orange count and i highly doubt there will be any good dh trails... yet alone the traffic from IRC

it was different than i expected. we did a lot of single track exploring. some of it was shittty and some of it was fun. my bike did ok, but i need to ride fullerton with it so i know what changed on my bike. cuz im so used to fullerton.
but yeah san mateo canyon was ok. not my favorite scenery tho. but it was technical. we bypassed a single track trail because there was a rattle snake. we are assuming that if we continued past the rattle snake we would have been on the main trail instead of the overgrown trail we ended up on for a short time

Weak, but there is that mountain biker saying:
'If you're not bushwhacking or not lost, you aren't mountain biking' I'll be riding Santiago Truck Trail to Old Camp then down the Luge tomorrow night? Any takers? Meet up time will be around 7:00pm, meet at cooks corner where El Toro becomes Santiago Canyon Road. |

i snapped my derailler hanger, allowing my derailler to get caught in my wheel....2 miles in, on the way down though.
No problem. The fix? 32w belt and a ziptie. no pedal no care. Does anyone have a spare 9spd derailler they won't mind selling? I had a shimano deore xt.

Hrmmm, who do you go to for your LBS (Local Bike Shop)? What make model is your MTB again? I would highly recommend going to The Path Bike Shop. They stock many derailleur hangers and have a large selection of parts. They even have a 'take off' wall section for even cheaper parts in new condition.
Any takers on STT-Old Camp-Luge tonight? Ride meet up around 7-730pm at cooks corner. If you haven't been before, here is some information to give you an idea of what this ride is like: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=44446 We can skip the old camp climb and head down the luge if you're tired. Nice GT! But, you should remove those ugly reflectors off your wheels ;p
Hahaha, hook it up with an 'employee discount' and maybe I'll stop by with my ugly S13 Last nights was ride was amazing. Great weather, clear skies, bright lights below. I rode with a rider from another forum and he killed it! He gave me so many new tips, I already feel like a stronger rider lol. Anyways, I'm riding again this Saturday for my monthly volunteer work at El Moro BackCountry (Crystal Cove State Park). This ride will be at a slow and easy pace so come out!! |

I'll be riding this Sunday at El Moro again. Didn't realize I scheduled myself to volunteer two weekends in a row... sucks! Anyone interested?
Hey Vatche, did you have time to install the pedals I gave you? |

How much are you looking to spend. A couple of guys here have hard tails and they're not really expensive. Just search downhill, free ride, or full suspension and see what comes up. Hit up a bike shop, they might hook you up with a deal with last year's models.

I would highly recommend getting a hard tail first as you will learn most of your skills better on one. A full suspension will only handicap you when you're starting off. Some things to keep in mind when buying a mountain bike.
Make sure you buy a bike that fits you. How tall are you? You don't need the newest technology in your new bike (V-brakes and front suspension will do). Start off easy, you don't want to scare yourself off the trails. |

my bike needs to be taken in, and i have no money so im currently not riding.
my fork is too tall and it needs to be adjusted internally and i dont want to risk taking it apart myself. other than that, guy at rei couldnt adjust my derailer after 2 hours, and couldnt figure out my creaking. wanted me to leave it but i rather take it somewhere else. prolly the path.

Bicycle Warehouse down here off Kearny Villa Rd do an awesome job. It's a bit of a drive for you but they work quick and do really great work. They're all downhill junkies and specialize more in mountain bikes than the other Bicycle Warehouse shops who focus more on road bikes.

Couple of co-workers and I went to ride at turnbull canyon last Tuesday. We had a blast! Except we got lost, but that was part of the whole experience. Parked at Beverly bld, went up at the water tower, down 7th st alley then got carried away and ended up at the residential area. Lol. We some how stumbled a spot called Hell's gate (creppy as fck!) then from there lost track till we got back to Turnbull canyon Rd Hahaha all in all great experience with our "wall mart" bikes! Lol
