Zilvian Mountain Bikers? so-cal?
hey what up peeps! i was wondering if there are any locals around here that like to mountain bike. i've started mountain biking about 3 months ago and absolutely love it! the thing that sucks is that i only have one other friend that has a decent mountain bike, but he isn't available all that often. i dont mind riding by myself but it just makes me feel safer with more people around.
so is there anybody that is down to go mountain biking on the weekends? 7am or afternoon times? i have a car rack that fits my s14, so we can carpool depending on where your located and/or where we will be riding. i dont mind meeting up at trailheads either. i dont know, imjust looking for somebody to mountain bike with. heres me in my 03 giant boulderSE in snow summit |

this might be an old thread but worth bumping.
i go mountain biking every sunday usually around 8-10am, i have a group of about 4-5 people who come and go, but me and one friend usually go every weekend. 4-5 of us have 240's. we have hit up other trails too but i personally prefer fullerton.

what do you guys ride? i usually ride in orange county after work, 6pm+ night or day! what type of terrain you guys ride, XC, AM, FR, DH? it would be great to ride with a bunch of 240 guys... sr20detman, what time do you usually go to fully loop on sundays and for some entertainment check out my two videos on vimeo stinky180 on Vimeo |

I normally ride at turnbull and aliso woods; haven't ridden in a month so the next time up is going to kick my ass. hehe.
I'm hoping to have my new bike shortly so may try to hit whiting ranch soon but heard that it's still super sandy over there.

think of the sand as a way to improve your cadance and weight balance. whiting is a great place, i usually go every wednesday. im close by so if you ride whiting, let me know via pm.

the sand at whiting is just an extra workout. i liked the sand though, it got me comfortable with it.
i ride fullerton loop on sundays 8-10am we start. in the summer i prefer to go earlier but its hard after a long weekend of drinking and staying up late haha. but yeah. heres my 2004 Giant VT-2 and i always post this pic of john

i'll give you a heads up next time i ride. I work up in santa fe springs so afterwork ride will probably be at turnbull. might ride weekends at aliso or whiting.
I rode fullerton loop once and wasn't a big fan of all the street crossings. may need to go w/ you guys to seek out the good spots over there.

Ride the Walmart Mongoose until you blow it up! My first ever 'mountain bike' was a kids 24" piece of shit from Target. It taught me the basic skills of mountain biking. Then it headset blew up on me

I'm from OC so I usually ride around here. Totally down for a 'lets go MTN biking meet'! Again, I can teach very basic mountain bike skills and bike setup. How about sunday late morning at fullerton loop? |

mountain biking is real fun! great excercise, enjoy the outdoors, feel the adrenaline! you'll need a good working mountain bike to ride. |

Atleast a front suspension
working front and rear brakes working front and rear shifters and derailleurs wheelset is true and spokes tighten pedals properly tighten along with all hardware and at least 1.5" wide tires you CAN take a road bike (CX specific) on the mountain but you risk damaging your bike. older full rigid mountain bikes work as well, just make sure the above is working properly. |
