hey guys i have some H&R hubcentric spacers for my s13 and when i put it on, it seems loose in the rear. whenever i go over cracks or undulations in the road, the rear seems to follow it. im guessing it has to do with the spacer because it doesnt happen without them.
heres the spacers in question

i took it off the spacers to test it and it does seem to lessen the frequency of the loose rear end.
do any of you guys have this problem with slipons? i dont feel safe driving like this on the freeway.

what are teh size of the spacers? running extended studs (looks like you are)? I can't really tell from the pic.

Anyway, as long as you have at least the minimal turns & retorque it several times every 50-100 miles the first few hundred miles, it should be fine.

I've dailied & tracked w/ 5mm slip-on spacers w/ stock studs just fine.

they are 12mm spacers and i am running 50mm studs. its scary driving on the freeway with the rear moving around like that. ill try it your way and tighten em every 100 miles.

its not tight enough huh? shouldnt be moving around like that.
i have 8mm spacers in the front and it doesnt happen like this.

I think it might be in your head

Cause 5mm is safe on stock studs (and you are on extended)

Anything higher than 5mm on stock is not safe (slip ons, not including bolt ons)

Those look like 10mm's? If so, 10mm on extended is fine

Even non hubcentric 5mm's I've put on with no issue on stock studs

Make sure studs are torqued to spec and you should be fine

*edit* Just saw 12mm post

I think the rear end being loose might be something else unrelated to this

Maybe loose sway bar bracket or wheel bearing or something

Maybe alignment, maybe tires unbalance, etc

That sounds like it should be okay to me (think stock is like 42mm, iirc). The rear shouldn't be going loosey goosey @ all, especially since you are running hubcentric spacers.

Perhaps you have a bigger issue -> check your rear subframe for looseness between the subframe to chassis -> you know, maybe it's time for subframe spacers (or replacement bushings if you are so inclined).

You could also check your wheel bearings for play - mount wheel w/ car in air & move the entire wheel in & out holding top/bottom then left/right of wheel to see if there is any play.

I don't really see the same exact setup causing no rear end looseness -> rear end looseness from only a 12mm spacer for daily driving.

im pretty sure the rear end is fine. i got all the lil things already.
could it be my rucas? because i recently extended the RUCA out so i can have less camber. could it be that its extended too far and not performing safely? its JIC ruca's if that matters

You can see in the video that the wheel and spacer are moving slightly while the rotor isn't moving at all.

I'd say there's definitely something wrong with those spacers. It seems like there's something holding the spacer out from the rotor. If there's not enough surface area being pressed together by the torque on the lug nuts, the friction between the two pieces is non-existent and the free play that is seen in the video is allowed.

well after i tightening them down some more today, i didnt feel the rear being loose any more. brokeAs240sx thanks for info, seems to have fixed my problem. ill report back if necessary.

I know it's a stupid question but are you tightening the lugnuts to spec/enough? I don't think it should be moving at all when your wheel is on snug, since your wheel is obviously bolted to the studs and not the spacer.

yea i think it wasnt tight enough either. because these spacers once they are put on, have a slight gap between it and the rotor. it seems like the hub is holding it back from being flush with the rotor. as i tighten it down though, it gets more and more snug. so i bet that was the problem

Would (bolt on/ pressed in stud) non hubcentric spacers produce an unbalanced effect (wheel shimmy) when driving? Or does it depend on the brand?
