Whine Noise Only When Pressing Clutch In.
Yea so my input shaft bearing went bed on my last trans, So I picked up another one, put it in with a new pilot bushing and throw-out bearing, and the clutch only had about ~600 miles on it.
So I got it all finished and took it for a drive and it has like a slight whine whenever i just push the clutch it, it doesn't stay whining the whole time the clutch is in, it just happens at the top of the clutch and goes away right away. Its kind of hard to explain, but like if I'm going down the street, and shift, it will make the whine when I first press it in, but go away right away, even if I leave my foot on the clutch. And to be honest the whine kind of sounds like its coming from the around the clutch pedal area.. but I can't be positive on this because well when I driving I can't stick my head down there and try to pin-point where exactly it's coming from. Whats going on here? I've been searching around but never really seen anyone with similar issues.

If its a strong constant whine and continues to go a little after you have pressed down on the clutch then you effed up like I did and put the throw out on backwards(of course my situation came with rpm dying out on me when I pressed on the clutch), but if its coming from the pedal area, I have had that whine from the same area since ive owned the car, I think its just some parts that need some wd-40 or a bad slave master.

I'm having this problem...
Only when i press the clutch pedal down, whine/grind noise. Its hard to put it in any gear when it's doing this, can anyone tell me for sure if its the input shaft bearing or what? My car has: KA24DE, S13 DOHC Transmission 151,000 miles Brand new SPEC Stage 3 Clutch Brand New OEM Nissan Throwout Bearing Left the same pilot bearing, (It was in good shape) Recently replaced save cylinder http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l9...t=39b8caa4.mp4 |

Ask anyone on this forum. Spec clutches are hit or miss, 4/5 of them are garbage and always have issues.
I know first hand, the teeth on my stage 4 I wasted money on weren't files correctly and didn't fit the input shaft on my trans. I bought a file, filed it down, fuxking clutched whined and made a god awful noise. Finally after replacing the tob, pilot bushing and the clutch "exedy" it went away and no issues since then. Therefor spec is most likely 85% chance that's your problem. There cheap for a reason.

Between clutch disks falling apart or the pressure plate fingers bending for no apparent reason to getting a gouged up pressure plate from them and have them return the same pressure plate after they attempted to turn it. I'd spend my money on ACT, Exedy or RPS.

I'd back Flip up on the Exedy and RPS. Ive never ran an ACT so I can't knock it... I ran an RPS for 25k miles with daily flogging and drag passes frequently and never had an issue. Only complaint with them is they don't send a new TOB with their kits, or atleast they didn't 4-5yrs ago.

this definitely sounds like a low quality clutch. I had this happen to me on my S30 and my first s13. On both I used spec clutch set ups and made these weird whine noise. You get what you pay for IMO.
