FMIC x V-Mount intercooler
Hey gear-heads!
I'm trying to decide what kind of intercooler I'll install on my car. Does anyone know what are the main advantages of the V-Mount setup? Thanks! |

well for 1 the pipping will be much shorter than the traditional Front mount setup which mean the turbo will take less time to spool-up. equal better respond. also there will be nothing in front of the radiator because of the V setup..the air are force to both the Radiator and Intercooler. which is also good.
How ever u must take the intercooler size in to consideration..as well as VENTED HOOD to let the air out after it gone thru the IC and ...misc stuff.... just my.02 C

Thanks man!
That is exactly what I was thinking, a shorter piping route and an open way for the radiator (plus the extra intercooler protection). I have already an Invader VIS CFH and the intercooler that came with the kit that I bought (boostdesigns) is a perfect fit btw the radiator and the engine. But wouldn't the intercooler work in a higher temp due the warm air from the radiator and the overall temperature of the engine bay? |

it has nothing to do with the turbo spooling up. The turbo will spool up the same if you are running 1000ft of piping, you just wont feel it for 23 sec later. The reason is. The turbo can only provide so many cfm's. In other words, the longer the piping the more cubic inches (or whatever cubic measure you would like to use) there are to fill. Im sure thats what you were refering to. Also a v mount setup is very hard to have the air flow distributed equally to the radiator and the ic without some sort of splitter in the middle. Also the v mount setup will suck ass if you crash and have to spend a month waiting for custom parts to come in. Unless you are a fabricator with the ability to tig weld, cut fmic, and radiators in half.

Both have FMIC and V-Mount have the good and bads. It all going to depend on how much $$$ you have.
My opinion on v-mounts : Boost lag is shorter + Looks cool + Custom work - Cut out front support to fit - Have to move radiator - My opinion on FMIC Boost lag is greater depending on pipe size and i/c core design -/+ Price if someone make it -/+ Look cool with the proper front end + peace |
