Post Nissan GT-R Spec V specs revealed by R&T

07-28-2008 04:28 AM

Road & Track just spilled the beans on the new Nissan GT-R Spec V, so we can now share their data with all of you. Thanks guys. While the "regular" GT-R is busy bringing down giants and collecting hardware in the process, the new GT-R Spec V promises to improve on the formula, and probably cure cancer or bring about world peace along the way. Here are the numbers: 2 seats only, 520 hp @ 6500 rpm, 440 lb.-ft. of torque all the way from 3200-5200 rpm, 3615 lbs., 'Ring laps quicker than 7:30, $130,000 MSRP, early 2009.

So the car will lose its back seat and enough other stuff to shed 200 pounds, will get an extra 40 advertised horses, cost almost twice as much as the current model and lap the Nordschleife faster than a Porsche 997 GT2. We had that number as low as 7:25 recently, which is just insane. We're guessing there will be enough people that will wait for this model to hit U.S. shores when it debuts in early 2009, but even more who will think they can duplicate the recipe for far fewer dollars and a regular old GT-R. Thanks for the tip, Rob!

for that price i would rather get a regular GTR and throw an extra 60K at that beast.

I'm just not buying that $130k price BS. Nissan tried so hard to pack so much technology into the GT-R and make it one of the overall fastest production cars in the world for a very reasonable price. And now they expect us to believe Nissan is going to charge over $60k more than a standard GT-R for nothing more than a rear seat delete, a few CF panels, and most likely just a boost increase?

That just doesn't add up. Why would they go from having one of the best bargains in the industry to charging an exorbitant amount of money for minor upgrades? Methinks someone has a few wires crossed somewhere along the line. I see three possibilities in this. 1. This $130k rumor is just that, a rumor, and one that has no basis in reality. 2. The Spec V will come in at a much lower price point than $130k, and all these rumors about a $130k GT-R might be true, but that version will be an as-yet-undisclosed insanely high performance version with like 650-700 bhp, huge weight reduction, and major aerodynamic revisons. 3. Nissan really is going to release the Spec V for $130k, in which case, the Nissan boys have lost their fucking marbles.

i cna see the v spec having an msrp of around 80k before markup..thats it. they dont want to introduce it too soon into the market becuase the base gtrs are still being sold wiht a amarkup. once that dies down, they will bring out the spec v, and after markup were looking at a 100-120k car, so 130 isnt too far a strech, but by the time it does come out, re-sale on a regular gtr will have dropped down to about 50-60k, so no one in there right mind would spend double, or more so, for a spec v, you can just convert your standard gtr into a spec v for ALOT less.

I can see them charging 100k easily for the vspec. I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I'm sure it has to have more stuff done to it than just listed. I probably has a better suspension, stiffer chassis, MAYBE increased boost, better ecu, stronger tranny, better gear ratios, better wheels, more aero dynamic, just going over the car with a fine tooth comb tweaking things to make it overall better without sacrificing much for driveablility.

with all the improvements made buy the japanese tuning company's simply doing small things like, adding aero, and changing springs, and ecu tuning that made the vehicle that much faster.... i am sure that was taken note of. if the v spec is to be released, it will mimick what has been done to the gtr in modifications.
