Alpine DVD Bypass
hi yall, i have an old Alpine head unit with a panasonic DVD player and I need to know how to bypass the safety. Its an older model so it doesn't have that gyro thing. I heard I need to ground the ebrake, but is that it? I think I need to do something with the foot brake too. And there's a 3rd.... but i don't know what to do to that either.
tia!

If you look where your EBake handle (usually) you should see a switch which runs to your monitor. Cut this wire right before the switch and ground it. By doing this it will keep the circuit closed the whole time. Just be careful I almost rear ended someone because I was watching tv while driving.

The Alpine screens require signal on two different wires to allow it to display video.
Yellow/black is footbrake Yellow/blue is e-brake The sequence is as follows once the Alpine is powered on: Engage the foot brake E-brake on E-brake off E-brake on Disengage foot brake For virtually zero money, you can use a toggle switch to mimic the e-brake and wire the yellow/black to the foot brake. The sequence would be as follows: Engage the foot brake Toggle switch on Toggle switch off Toggle switch on Disengage foot brake Or, I sell a device that will do all of this automatically and instantly when you turn the Alpine on. It runs $29 shipped. |

This works great. I have had the toggle switch set up for 6+ years on my alpine. very easy to install and cheap.
