I know what you're getting at thx, but thats why I said "hard, yet responsible canyon driving." I do go to the track, but due to time/distance constraints it is infrequent. I'm basically looking for others to drive 9/10ths with -- not to race with

I have a couple of things to say:
1. I go to Fort Bragg twice a year. Are you guys anywhere near there, if so let me know so that the next time I go up there we can hook up. 2. All these people who say learn to drive on track not street race. I'm sorry most of you only do the track cause you really aren't good on the street. 3. Most of use who do mountain passes use roads that don't have home anywhere near by and nobody walking. If you are that scared to drive on the road then just stay out of a car. 4. Learn. A lot of us aren't learning on the road we already know how to drive we just practice on the road. 5. And most important. I've noticed that most of the people that keep saying we are stupid and need to do it on the track and not on the street are the guys that are throwing the track events and are makeing really good money off these events and the only reason they are saying anything is cause they want our money. 6. Let me know how close you guys are to Fort Bragg, I'm willing to drive in that direction shit. Or are you guys closer to San Francisco than that. I know I'm probably about to get ripped for saying anything but who gives a rats @ss. As long as we drive responsibly and don't try pushing yourself too hard like some idiots who I've seen get seriously injured. It's kewl. Just know the road and drive as safely as you can. Okay I put my 2 cents in.

now i wont try to pretend i'm holier then thou..i run touge all the time in my local mountains...so i'm not preaching against it.. i just think you comment is ignorant.. to assume that those who prefer track days to streets are inferior drivers is asinine... Quote:

and to think that you are not learning constantly, and always improving, is another ignorant thought...you are just full of these arn't you?.. Quote:
so before making blanket generalized statements try doing some research and actually finding out what goes on... Quote:

think before you write..you might just be surprised what can come of using that ugly thing above your shoulders... ok, ok..so i was a bit harsh..but seriously..try to do some research and actually know what you are talking about before you make statements that are wholey unfounded.. |

First Read what I say before you start thinking you are superior to the rest of the world.
* Actually, I Never said that I don't learn anything when I'm on the street, and I never said there was no risk. There is a risk anytime you get in your car. That's why I said I also state that I go out there to practice. As far as I remember practicing involves learning. * The reason I referenced this was the same guy who responded earlier once said on a post that anyone who drives on the streets is stupid and a danger to everyone, and that he would never drive on the streets. * I was talking about those that do both. I know alot of people who love the track but also love the streets, I'm guessing by your tone that you are one of them. I don't see anything wrong with that. The track is a great place to practice technique, and you will need to use that technique to handle the roads. * I know how much it costs to throw a an event, but are you going to sit that tell me that the people throwing them don't profit from them. Cause I've done my research and yes they do. * Lastly I didn't cross my words. I know exactly what I said. Cause I never said that people who like to use the track and the roads are stupid and can't drive. I was trying to make my point that there are alot of people who affraid to take the risk Of driving on the streets and will only drive on the track. I don't care if people don't like driving on the road and only like driving on the track. That's there opinion. It's when they try to preach that opinion to the rest of us that gets me upset. Cause they go on saying that we are stupid and immature cause we drive on the streets. Does that mean you agree with them. I think you are the one crossing your words cause you are defending all those that think you are a complete moran for driving on the streets. And to answer your question, no I can't predict what's going to come out in front of me. I never said I could. I said that with experiance and practice, it is safe. (Safe meaning that you will be as safe as you can be, cause there are always suprises that will come up when ever you get into a car even if it just going to work.)

but the events i was refering to..which most of the people on this board attend are not really profit making endevors... any of the drift events at Buttonwillow put on by Truenocoupe are non-profit... Drift Days put on my Club 4AG and Drift Association LLC are minimal profiting events..but i mean people NEED to get paid when they do these things for a living.. you don't ask for free gas or food or anything do you?..why should events be any different?..we live in a capitalist society...the object of it is to make money..do the math.. Safe DOES mean not getting hurt and not hurting others. do you have any other definitions of other words that differ completely from the word's actual definition? They'd be comical to read...... just like ur definition of safe.

yeah fort bragg is 2 hours away, hit me up on AIM if you are ever up that way (ma71supraturbo).
As for the track vs street -- Neither are 100% safe. And obviously mountain roads are not as good of a place to practice as tracks. But you can minimize the hazards of the road by being alert, driving within your limits, driving in scarcely populated areas, and driving at times when the fewest people are on the road. |

You guys are missing my point compeletly. Don't see anything wrong with making money from putting on Events.
My point was that I hate it when these guys put people down for running on the track and tell them that they have to go to the Events. I was talking about the people who put street drivers down and talk shit to them. I know Al puts on the Buttonwillow meets for no Profit, but I know Al and I know he doesn't keep all his driving on the track. And I've never once heard him talk shit about anyone who drives on the streets. Lets Recap. My entire point Before Nokeone started jumping down my throat, was that I can't stand people who talk shit about people who drive hard on the street, Track or Street it's all personal preference, and if you perfer the Track it's kewl keep it to yourself, if you perfer the street same thing. I know there are alot of peopel who like both.

Nokeone,
Okay... You are right, and I was definately wrong... I'll admit that... That is what I ment to say and I just used the wrong words... I will also admit that the way I said it was compeletly wrong and yes it did make me sound like the guys I am talking about, and for that yes you did have a right to get on my ass. So I am sorry for the way I said it, and for not being in anyway clear about what I ment.
