Clunking sound from passenger front
Ok heres the deal. Ive had my S14 for a little over a year now and just recently it started making this clunking sound from the passenger side front. If i let the car roll on its own and then step on the brakes it goes "clunk" then I do it again the car rolls *brakes* *clunk* rolls *brakes *clunk* well you get the idea. I decided to take a look under the car and figured my shocks were blown. So i bought some coilovers for the car and the problem is still there. I saw the control arm bushings were severely worn so I replaced them with after market ones. The problem is still there and wont go away. Now its making this clanking sound when i go over any bumpy IE rail road tracks or small bumps here and there on the streets on crappy roads. I saw my outter tie rods have play so bought OEM ones and the problem is still there. I got the car aligned as well and got tires all around. I cant seem to find the problem. When I decided to check again underneath the car I was trying to move stuff around the passenger side suspension area and I found my endlink completely shot. I can literally move the endlink by hand and then the other side the driver side endlink was fine no play. So I made a quick run to FRsport and picked up brand new front and rear endlinks and got them installed I was happy knowing that HAD to be the problem. So installed endlinks threw everything back together and started driving the car and applied the brakes and *clunk* . Im out of options on what to look for now. When I hear the clunking sound I can feel it inside the car, but when the clanking sound appears I can barely hear it inside the engine bay. I dont know what it could be im all out of ideas. Any info would be great guys. My car is a 96 Zenki SE if it matters. Also the wheel bearings are brand new OEM as well. The problem started out of nowhere over time.

zooopreme you...are...AWESOME!! I found this thread while searching 240sx Review: Megan Coilovers and he is describing EXACTLY whats going on with my coilover even the turning thing. I cant find a direct answer on how to tighten the pillow ball mount. Im gonna take my car to Megan and have them fix or tell me what part I need to get since im guessing the damage is done.

FIXED!!! Well atleast one noise. I went to megans website and there it was my answer to tightening the pillow ball mount. I tightened the 17mm nut it was REALLY loose. That got rid of the clunking sound when going over the speed bumps or potholes or any crappy road. Feels good to have that fixed but now my clunking sound is still there. I asked my sister for help to see if I can see what moves when the brakes are applied. When the car starts to move and she applies the brakes I can see my whole rim shift when I hear the clunking sound. It moves forward as soon as the brakes are applied and can hear the clunk sounds. Dont what that could mean?Maybe rack and pinion is bad?

66 views and no one can point me in the right direction or has experienced this before. I have been searching but some of the stuff that can cause this has already been replaced.

Its your tension rods..I'm 99.8% sure that's what it is..check your front tension rods..both the bushing and the bolts as well as the bracket that it is attached to
