So we all know about the floater issues with s14(so far95/96 as far as I know)...
Im currently dealing with one that doesnt come off its bracket, but just reads incorrectly, removing the floater from the tank and moving it up and down resets my gauge, or perhaps its just a matter of it not getting power that resets it, but today im just going to show you a pic of the inside, I have not seen a pic of the inside around the internet so I thought I'd post one up for us who are curious on what it looks like, it seems like an ENLARGED circuit of the s13(for no reason) with the exception that the s14 uses a "ball"(this ball has 2 needles inside) and the s13 uses only a "needle" to read the circuit board.
It looks like the floater is NOT meant to be taken apart once assembled, the clips on the outside that hold it together are as thick as each other(male and female parts), so it must be broken to open the floater. if for any reason you open this and you dont have a backup floater laying around, the good thing is it seems to have snap on clips on the inside of the floater, so i was actually able to clip this back together thanks to the internal clips, but the outside clips are useless, it actually sealed up really good, but I would probably just put zip ties to make sure its on tighter and doesnt open up in the tank.(or just get another floater)
The circuit board where the wires are soldered on looked really bad.(not in picture, theres a backside of the circuit board)
Also in the picutre you can see the white wire(probably signal) has a section where it is exposed, and the black(ground) also has a section that is exposed, not sure why Nissan made them like this. If you are not good with electronics, theres no point in opening this up to fix, just get another one or clean the connections up top by the fuel lines in the back............anyways, here is the picture of my spare floater...........
