bad ecu, no start?

so i took some pictures and found these

car cranks, but wont turn on and fuel pump wont prime anymore.

the part looks like a zener diode , its function is to set the voltage level .

like if it is a 5 volt zener and you put 12 volts to it , it will limit the voltage to 5 volts .]

for it to get as hot as it looks i would say something was drawing a lot of current , could even be a short circuit to ground somewhere , either on the board or something outside the board like a wire shorted to ground .

don't know the year of your car or is it a manual or automatic tranny . ecm's on ebay are cheap . i have 2 spares for 97 automatic .

before you put on another ecm try and find out what caused the diode the get so hot or you will fry another one .
