Slotted rotors will do fine, crossdrilled is a bit of overkill for street applications. The best yet is a stock rotor and a performance pad. Remeber HEAT = Friction, and Friction = stopping power. I've seen several test in magazines that don't recomend drilled or slotted for street, due to the fact that these rotors run so cool that is is hard to stop. Several test show longer stopping distances with slotted and drilled rotors.
Now on the other hand, if you car is going to see some open track duty, then by all means go for it. This type of driving will put the heat in the rotors, and stop you on a dime.
For street I recomend stock rotor(smooth) or a larger smooth rotor, internally vented as most all new cars are. with a set of performance pads like Bendix or Porterfield. Also HAWK and BEAR make some AWSEOME pads.
Maybe even a skyline brake conversion.

dont go stock rotor and performance pads.... the pads will eat away your rotors...

I'd probably by slotted any way just for that extra stopping power. Slotted and stock pads.

Naa, it dosent kill them at all, I have had my Axis Metal Masters on my stock Rotors for about 35k miles. No problem at all. Drilled are "OK" for the street, I would buy them for the street but they dont put salt on the road here in CO.

hahah... we get a bunch of crap on our roads, we have animals from deer, mooses(more in NH), birds, and lilttle 4 legged creatures, also we have salt, sand, water from washing the streets and tunnels, snow, rain, floods, dust.... we have it all here in boston, not to mention the 6 inch deep potholes and even even roads, 2 weeks ago i guned a yellow light in a lowered car and the road dipped and then it went back up and the car took off like the movies and i slammed back down and heard the frame hit the ground... i am telling u, MA's roads SUCK! i'll take my chance with the cross drilled/ slotted brombos disc.....

Drifter: Tell me about it, The roads around me in ME are pure crap, you wouldn't believe the potholes we have here, I'm surprised there isn't some type of law about it or something... They really let it go too far.

in NH it is illegal to have fog lights
no types of mods r allowed there

Well after wearing out a pair of brake pads in 2 months (some REALLY cheap stuff that I made the mistake of buying) I currently have some Raybestos brakes that don't seem to be wearing down too bad...but my car still doesn't seem to be stopping as quickly as I'd like it too... My stopping distances feel outrageous!! Are there a good set of replacement rotors (probably a slotted set) and some performance pads I could use that would really help slow me down? I don't Auto-X or anything, it's just for street use, but I've nearly seen my car up under too many bumpers and I don't wanna have a wreck!!

there are applications of non-slotted and non-x-drilled aftermarket rotors which is made of a better material and process which can take the abuse of sport pads.. Endless makes a various selection of these rotors.. and also a number of popular brands ie: project-mu.. also makes these rotors.

as for application.. don't worry about it..   <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

the Silvia/180 is too popular of a car to be missed out on the application chart
