Would this be OK? (wastegate)

When i was installing my external wastegate, i broke one of the nuts, which was broken right in the middle and a piece of it is still in the wastegate. The wastegate operates at 0.8 bar and no spike. However, i can feel there is an exhaust leak from that nut hole. My question is would this be ok. What kind of problems can happen if i were to leave it as is? I can't really do much anyway, don't know how to take that broken piece out.

I would, but dont' know how. The nut is broken in half. One half is left inside the nut housing in the wastegate. When you say risk, what kind of risk are you thinking about, fire? I want to know how serious it is if i were to just leave it as-is.
Thanks

i dont know what nut u are talking about... im running a tial 38mm, they use all bolts, even the banjo fittings are bolts....

what nut housing is this, turbo side? atmosphere/dump side? diaphram spring side?

basically the nut on the dump side might lodge itself and leave dump open not letting u boost, worst case is its stuck closed and u over boost. if its on manifold/turbo side then nut can go in turbo and have some real fun in there. as far as the spring/diaphram side it could tear or crack something, and tial rebuild kits are hella expensive for only being a diaphram and a spring><

Here's a picture of it. See the mark, that nut is broken in half. A small section is still in that hole. I can feel that a little exhaust leak is coming out from that. I drove the car afterward, the WG works fine and holds boost steady at 0.8 bar. No problem there. All that i want to know if i were to leave it as is, would anything serious happen?

I'm about 4-5 hours away from them. All that they can do is given me advise and i'm trying to get as many as i can before i decide on the final solution.

This sounds easy enough. What's this easy out?
Thanks for all the replies.

Send a message via AIM to element240
since you have no idea what an easy out is... i suggest you remove the wastegate and take it to a shop and have them do it.

agreed, and ask them how to use it, 2 things

take off the wastegate... u might be lucky and u might see a little of the stud/bolt sticking out of the wastegate, if that is case than u r lucky and can use vise grips, or if theres a very littly sticking out, a chisel to rotate stud/bolt out(if u dont know what i mean than dont try the chisel thing).

2nd thing, when u break a bolt there is a tension pressure in broken bolt. so its best if u drill a pilot hole to relieve pressure. this pilot hole is then used as a pilot hole for easy out. make sure that u use a left hand drill to drill pilot hole. normally "Easy Outs" require a specific size of pilot hole depending on bolt size/easy out size.
