I was wondering if the fuel vapor line that connects from the gas tank to the charcoal cannister will effect the fuel pump if that line is crimped?

Reason for my asking is because a few weeks ago a friend and I were doing some work on my car, and he crimped the fuel vapor line, when I removed the charcoal cannister initially I always kept that line open.

Now my fuel pump has completely died and it is only about a year old, so I was wondering if this has any relation to crimping that line (allowing the vapors from the fuel tank to not escape).

are you referring to the vent line? that definitely needs to be left open. some people say it might let fumes in to your engine bay, but i never smell it under the hood. works for me and many others.

Yes, the vent line. I always have had it open but the past few weeks it has been crimped off allowing no air to flow out of it. And today my fuel pump just completely dies only being a year old Walbro.

well, i guess that line is like the vent cap on a gas can.. the gas will come out with the vent closed, but not as well as if the vent is open. so maybe it put extra strain on the pump and made it die early. just cut the crimped part off the line and you should be good to go, youll just need a new fuel pump. lol.
