Take an old stud/bolt and cut a decent size groove on one side. Clean it up so there are no burrs and run it down the threads. You can also use the correct tap to clean the threads up as well.

No, the cut you made vertically on the threads of the bolt will be an area to collect junk from the threads in the block, you dont torque it down

Use a tap. What they're saying is, you can make one with an old head bolt. You thread it in only, no torque. Make sure the threaded holes are clean afterwards.

go to a parts store and borrow a "thread repair set,"
itll have the tap you need. (m10x1.5 i think?) i borrowed mine from oreilly.
there is a deposit but once you return it you get your money back.

that or make your own tap like previously mentioned.

after that, if you have a pressure washer you can hit the hole with that and after that if you have pressurized air you can use that to get all the water out of there.

I sprayed my holes out with brake clean to remove any oily deposits. Then I used compressed air and hit each one with that as well. All that was in preperation for a fresh/clean slate for my ARP lube...

Are the arp studs new/correct ones? Are the threads on those clean/straight? Maybe you can try to run them through a die.

The ARPs do not bottom out in the hole. They are not long enough for that unless you've bought the ARP/Mazworx spec items. Hand tighten them into the block you can use the Allen key to help, but do not put any torque on them.

Two of them are taller if I can remember correctly. I would try to get them even, but I'm OCD like that

With the head off and studs in, it looked like the front six where higher than the rear four, or vice versa.
When the head gasket, and head was fitted, and studs reinstalled, they all appeared to protrude the same amount. Even after final torquing they all are identical in remaining thread height. 20, 40, 60, 80, 80 ARP lube

Cut a slit in old bolt:

Spray carb cleaner down the holes in the block.
Thread the slotted bolt in each hole.
Repeat process 3 times, then spray with compressed air to dry it all out.
That's what I did.

Yeah, check the one sitting higher than the rest that aren't in the middle. The middle ones will be higher.
