Clunk in the Rear, do I need subframe spacers?
I am getting a horrid clunk in the back of my car when accelerating and braking. Bushings look fine in the back. Would subframe spacers help? I see Drop engineering selling sets of them for $25. Has anyone used this company's products before?

From my understanding the subframe rides on the spacers instead of your old shot bushings. I'm planning to do it soon as well.

The rear subframe bushings may look good.
But to actually check the stiffness you would have to jack the car up and stick a pry bar between the subframe and the body to see how much it moves. Most likely your car has OEM bushings and I can assure you that all the bushings in the rear end need to be replaced. Energy suspension makes a bushing kit and its fairly cheap, granted you are mechanically inclined.

Keep in mind replacing Subframe bushings is a serious job. Requires a lot of time and effort. Just getting the subframe out of the car is tough, removing old bushings can be a big bitch too.

it is much easier to do with a lift to suspend the sub frame. so dont attempt to do it thinking it will only be a few minutes or so. everyone here is tryin to save ya the hassle. maybe have it diagnosed first to see if thats it

i removed my subframe and removed the old bushings and installed ES red poly bushings in the subframe and the diff. started at 3 pm and was done at 9 30 pm... It is a good 4-5 hours of raw ass labor.
the oem bushings suck. And after 20 years of use the oem bushings in the front positions are usually coming apart pretty bad and will result in the whole subframe banging aginst the unibody. ES part number 7.1117r or 7.1117G subframe bushings 7.1118r or 7.1118g for the diff bushings that you might as well change at the same time.

subframe spacers or collars, is like the quik fix for shot bushings, makes a little differnce, stops clunking, helps against wheel hop some how, but increases road noise bc its metal against the frame instead of the worn rubber bushing, i just upgraded to pbm solid bushings from those subframe collars and its a noticable differnce, wasnt fun getting the old bushings out of the subframe, luckly i sourced a subframe so my car wasnt down for too long, painted the subframe and made it look pretty too
