That could be air in the lines or it could be a failing clutch slave cylinder. I know on my S13 coupe, it took me almost two bottles of hydraulic fluid to bleed the clutch after replacing the slave cylinder. It just didn't want to bleed properly. Worked out because the fluid in the lines was a milky white and I essentially flushed the whole system. Bad/old fluid in the lines may be a problem for you as well.

also when i get on it it sounds like metal popping or grinding from the clutch an it.

There is no popping or grinding noise I have ever heard from a car that was not very bad. I wouldn't even drive the car until I figured out what was going on.

Your engine doesn't make a whole lot of torque at idle. When you engage the clutch at idle, it will kill the engine so long as the clutch has *some* friction to it. The only way it wouldn't kill the engine is if the clutch is not engaging at all or the clutch is 100% dead.
We can give you ideas to look for to determine the problem, but with a clutch, there's no way to tell what's going on without pulling the transmission and looking at it yourself. Check the T-O bearing, pressure plate, flywheel surface, clutch disk, slave cylinder, basically everything. But it has to be visually inspected.
