Stock 240 radiator OK for SR?
Ok, I've searched and have read here and there that I might be ok with just the clutch fan for an SR swap with the stock 240 radiator. I'm still a little hesitant so I just needed one last check for approval before I do the swap this weekend. Would it be ok? I won't be boosting over 7 or 10psi (whatever you get with the stock turbo) and I have your standard bolt ons:
intake, z32 maf, exhaust, fmic. I wouldn't be racing or drifting it, just a commuter until I can get a Koyo. So what do you pro's think. Just say the word. |

Yeah, the guy I bought the SR from through in the Z32 maf with intake, that's why my upgrades are a bit out of sequence. Thanks for the info though, I feel much better
Without the stock boost solenoid, doesn't it boost up to 10psi? Sorry, I know there's a million threads already on this. Don't want to change my original post into a boost thread. Thanks though BTW - I don't have the fan shroud, would this also pose a problem? & what about the electric stock ones on there now, should I just yank them? |

take off the solenoid, you'll stay at 7psi because thats what the stock wastegate is set at, with or without the solenoid. id suggest getting a fan shroud but then you'd have to get an SR radiator

I heard prelude radiators work too. Also, try finding some use nissan altima dual electric fan. But yah stock radiator will work, just gotta jerry-rigg the return.

the stock radiator will work, but your intake piping will smack the radiator hose.

The KA radiator is actually slightly larger than the SR20 radiator, IIRC.
But it does work fine, you just need to custom route hoses/pipes 'cause they're on the wrong side. (Lower is the same, upper is not) Just buy a copper radiator from Koyo or GP or something. Later |

my buddy just did the swap. now the intake piping rests on the hose going into the radiator when you close the hood. It caused the old hose to crack under the stress. He just bought a new one, so far so good, but its pinching the hose slightly.
