s13 w/ z32 brakes

quick question about upgrading my s13 hatch stock POS brakes to the z32 brakes... if i were to a complete brake swap, for the rears to swap in, would i need to have the z32 hub with the 5lug? or will the 4lug hub on the s13s work? not sure exactly how it bolts up. any1 have any pictures of the process?

the rears should bolt right on, to do a full swap the rotors would have to be changed out or do the 5 lug and bolt on the z rotors. as for the caliper itself, im pretty sure it bolts right up, i removed them before and the mounting points look the same...
the fronts will need the conversion lines, also have you considered Q45 brakes? direct bolt on and it really helps a lot.

Yes you can use 4 lug hubs.
Just re-drill the z32 rotors to 4 lug and you're good.

Here are some pics of a 4 lug hub with z32 ebrake stuff:

when i do a full swap i heard you have to swap out the BMC, so would conversion lines still be needed? and i have thought about the q45, i know they bolt up directly with no mods needed, but i perfer the 30mm z32 considering im expection over 300hp out of my sr once i get everything for it.

thats what i was wondering the most, is the dust shield from the z32 e-brake assembly? and when u did the e-brake switch, did you have to swap out for the z32 e-brake lever too, r u still using the s13 lever, or is there even a difference?

Yes that is a z32 backing plate and hardware.
You don't have to switch the ebrake handle.
You need conversion lines because the stock lines bolt onto the calipers differently.

Yes, the BMC has nothing to do with the lines. You wil still need away to hook up the brake lines to the calipars. For the fronts get the z32 lines. They fit fine. for the rears im guessing you could use the z32 ones aswell. I wouldnt do the rears, to me that is over kill. Plus you have to do alot of work for you ebrake to work. Just do the fronts. its a big improvement and is easy to do.

but wouldent doing just the front greatly affect brake bias? that would be alot of power in the front and very little in the back

and how much is "alot of work" to make the e-brake function? just swapping the hub? or do the z32 e-brake lines not connect to the s13 lever properly?

brake bias is controlled by the proportioning valve inside of your BMC, so if you swap in a Z32 BMC you will be fine. you are not going to get too much braking power up front, if anything you will get too little from not having the proper proportioning valve. so i suggest just putting on the front calipers, install Z32 BMC, bleed system, and call it a day

No, the 240s brake balance is like 70% or so up front. The rear brakes are really only used for the e-brake. Thats why they are so small. I have 30mm iron brakes in the front only and i can lock up a 18"front tire at 40mph easily.
EDIT: o yeah and thats with the factory bmc

possibly, depending on the condition of your parts, you may want to rebuild the calipers, turn your rotors, and get new brake pads.

you dont even need the conversion lines. Just use the z32 ones. If your 4lug get the rotors redrilled.

They mount exactly the same. All you need is the calipars and the z32 lines and rotors.

The us s14 never came with stock 30mm brakes.

oh i know that, wasnt sure if he was making a reference to the JDM S14 K's front brakes for some reason, as in the lines or rotors, or something of that nature.

im not too familiar with US spec nissans as i was never into cars until i got stationed over here. i know a good bit about them from reading on this forum, but ive never had any first-hand experience

k's came with 30mm brakes? as in z32's and r chassis? i thought the only s chassis that came factory with 4 piston calipars were spec r s15's.

we had to part out and junk my friends K's ( i forget the year, i think '94) about 2 months ago and it had 30mm 4 POTS in the front and shitty 1POT 180sx brakes in the back. the K's 14's over here came with some weird setups. but it was kinda cool since i was going 5 lug and his rear rotors could just be slipped on and used with my 180's current rear brake setup

i thought they were gonna be 26mm calipers but we measured the rotors and sure as shit they were 30mm
