s13 w/ z32 brakes
quick question about upgrading my s13 hatch stock POS brakes to the z32 brakes... if i were to a complete brake swap, for the rears to swap in, would i need to have the z32 hub with the 5lug? or will the 4lug hub on the s13s work? not sure exactly how it bolts up. any1 have any pictures of the process?

the rears should bolt right on, to do a full swap the rotors would have to be changed out or do the 5 lug and bolt on the z rotors. as for the caliper itself, im pretty sure it bolts right up, i removed them before and the mounting points look the same...
the fronts will need the conversion lines, also have you considered Q45 brakes? direct bolt on and it really helps a lot.

Yes that is a z32 backing plate and hardware.
You don't have to switch the ebrake handle. You need conversion lines because the stock lines bolt onto the calipers differently. |

Yes, the BMC has nothing to do with the lines. You wil still need away to hook up the brake lines to the calipars. For the fronts get the z32 lines. They fit fine. for the rears im guessing you could use the z32 ones aswell. I wouldnt do the rears, to me that is over kill. Plus you have to do alot of work for you ebrake to work. Just do the fronts. its a big improvement and is easy to do.

but wouldent doing just the front greatly affect brake bias? that would be alot of power in the front and very little in the back
and how much is "alot of work" to make the e-brake function? just swapping the hub? or do the z32 e-brake lines not connect to the s13 lever properly? |

you dont even need the conversion lines. Just use the z32 ones. If your 4lug get the rotors redrilled.

k's came with 30mm brakes? as in z32's and r chassis? i thought the only s chassis that came factory with 4 piston calipars were spec r s15's.

we had to part out and junk my friends K's ( i forget the year, i think '94) about 2 months ago and it had 30mm 4 POTS in the front and shitty 1POT 180sx brakes in the back. the K's 14's over here came with some weird setups. but it was kinda cool since i was going 5 lug and his rear rotors could just be slipped on and used with my 180's current rear brake setup
i thought they were gonna be 26mm calipers but we measured the rotors and sure as shit they were 30mm |
