Post First car need advice!

Hello, Im trying to buy a first car! My budget is about 2000(give or take a couple hunred)
for the inital car. Then maybe 500 for mods or restoration ect.
Requirements are: manual, and not fwd!1

Ive done research, but i want real live opinions from experienced members of the car community.

Thanks for anything you can provide me with! Btw im kinda new to this so excuse me for making any newbie mistakes.

Im located in Southern California if that helps!

unless you have a good amount of automotive repair knowledge, you are going to have a very hard time with the 240 simply because youre going to spend most of your time fixing things that someone else half assed. ive been building these cars for 14 years now and it took me the better part of 2-3 years to fix MOST of the broken parts in the car and get the motor running right due to faulty sensors, improperly wired sensors and just other random shit that was due to neglect on a car that was 21 years old when i bought it.

Make sure you aren't tired if and when you look at a 240. You want to make sure its a numbers matching model.

yes. you want the model with the gallo24 engine, not the gallo 12. make sure that it has not had the vtek-delete mod done, or else the car is basically worthless.

$500 is not enough for "mods" or replacement parts on a 2K chassis

Soo to recap.. make sure you swap in a rb20 and make sure it has matching numbers when looking for a 240sx.

this is all the advice we have for you here on zilvia.

Yeah, the numbers must quantize themselves on a dimensional plane in order for them to be accepted as a legitimate 240sx. Otherwise who knows what you could end up with.

Dangerous world out there.

Buy a gen 1 miata, they are cheap, and easy to get parts for when you crack it up.

Make sure you can tell the difference between an RB20, RB25, and a small block Chevy V8. Don't be fooled if it says "2500" on it and make sure it looks like a 2.0L because they are all very compact engines.
