Sohc vs dohc
I've been reading on forums that if I want to boost a stock ka I need to go dual cam. Recently though, I've found a CX racing turbo kit specifically for the ka24e that is rated exactly the same as their kit for the dual cam. As I'm looking at 240s, I'm frequently seeing sohc cars that are a lot more accessible and I'm considering going this route. I was wondering what the tuning potential of these are. Everyone has either been saying they're junk or saying they're nearly as good as the dohc, so I'm pretty confused

yes , of course it is lol but I am interested in picking up a 240 even if its single cam eventually I will swap it out but I'd beat it lol. Just would like to know the same as you if they have potential or not.

Coming from someone who did a full turbo single cam, don't.
I had cam, built bottom end, aem ems, t304e turbo all of it. Made 300whp. Buying a 240 with a single cam is fine if you dont mind doing a swap. Otherwise, just save your money for a clean dual cam.

SOHC gives you all the hassle of the SR head (lifters/rocker arms) with none of the benefit (flow)
Also SOHC accessories are different, engine management will be questionable (probably doable $$) if trying to go the rom tune route.

Piecing it together yourself is the best kit for the money

I've been pricing that out, but I seem fairly stumped when it comes to fuel management. I'm planning to use the stock computer and don't want to pay for a tune is that gonna be fairly costly. My plan was to use an fmu unit with a 12:1 disk, and then adjust actual fuel pressure back flow by using a bleed valve on the vacuum line that drives it. My confusion is around how and where to place the maf, and that's why I'm thinking a kit may be best. It has already been designed, so it will have systems that can regulate fuel and boost without me having to come up with them
