JDM S14 Kouki Front Bumper fitment problems

I've had this problem for a while, and the bumper isn't even on my car anymore for now because of this.

look at this picture:

see how the bumper looks like it is bent? well, that is the metal bumper support that is pushing down on the urethane. It seems there is not enough allowance between the bumper and the metal support. btw, fitment is very easy, it's just not totally flush.

I don't know if my bumper is genuine, but then again, the paint is a genuine WK0 pearl white, it is definately black polyurethane, and I've never heard of a replica oem jdm bumper before. I bought it from a member here last spring. Does anyone know why my bumper is doing this? I can't just leave it alone because my turn signals cannot mount flat against the bumper.

I'd appreciate any ideas on why this is happening. I've thought of things like previous front end collision and repairs, bad bumper, interior foam support (I've tested fitment w/o it, and it still doesn't fit right). The car is a 98 and has never been in an accident.

JDM kouki S14's doesn't come with that thick bumper support. The mounts are different too as they are seperate and not welded onto the bumper support. JDM kouki S14's only has the hosumento (the little thin bar on top of the bumper support.)

So that's most likely the problem. Seeing that pictures it's safe to say that bumper isn't made to clear the USDM bumper support. Cut the support bar.

Japan doesn't have that 5 mph bumper rule or whatever it's called so there isn't any extra support in the bumpers and in some cases the doors. The AE86 is a perfect example of it for the bumpers. I'm not sure how the USDM AE86 doors are.

if its a nissan bumper it should have a nissan stamp/part number on the back of it...

and as for fitment? wouldnt the turning signals cover it up? i dont see it being too big of a problem

No the lights wnt even fit when its like that. You just have to cut the ends of the support off,,thats it..simple

Well, I have a friend who's JDM bumper fits just fine. I don't think any member here has had this problem either, it's all bolt on with no modification.

If anything, I will sand, grind, or trim the support, but I've never cut metal that thick before.

Could anyone confirm if there is a nissan stamp on the back? For bumpers, I never noticed them (front or rear) even on my USDM ones.

for reference, I got an JDM kouki bumper and it went on perfectly fine, we compared side by side any for some reason my bumper fits far better

Turdz's does not allow the turn signals to be flush with the rest of the bumper, and there is noticeably gappage

Hey, I'm not sure, but did we ever try to switch bumpers? I don't remember doing that, so I can't be sure if it's my car or if it's the bumper that's the prob.

and you never know...were there any structural front end changes in the 98 240?
