Completely love this thread and the quality of the pictures. Good to see someone not letting anything stop them from doing what they love. By far the best thread for motivation on this Forum. Keep it up man. Subbed.

Really? I wonder what I was doing down there. I take the hatch on trips often, or well.... I did.
Poor Poopy (my hatchback) popped a brake line and made its way into a pole a few weeks back during a snow storm. It did some damage. It was the cars last nail in the coffin, I think its time to find a new shell! IMG_0660 by Touge Photo, on Flickr Been delayed on spraying the car, went to bondo put the door dings and didn't mix it correctly. So now its sitting there half dry and im not sure what to do, it doesn't dry anymore and its not dry enough to sand. I've tried the heat gun everything. It just stays tacky. I have no clue what to do or how to remove it. Might resort to the wire wheel. Interior is coming along, installing my pedal setup. IMG_8030 by Touge Photo, on Flickr A few extra parts. IMG_7848-2 by Touge Photo, on Flickr Hope to use this gun this week. IMG_8062-2 by Touge Photo, on Flickr |

Got the white car started after changing plugs, and jumping the relay for the fuel pump. Otherwise it doesn't prime. The car is miss firing like a sum' bitch. Sounds like a subaru. Hoping its just a coilpack....
IMG_8085 by Touge Photo, on Flickr Got my seat/pedal extensions sorta mounted in the vert as a mock up before they are mounted permanently. IMG_8102 by Touge Photo, on Flickr I want to drive this tomorrow. Just around the block. let greg stretch its legs. Last edited by JustTouge; 03-27-2013 at 07:03 AM.. |

They're 16x8 0 offset XXR 002's. Not sure on tire size at the moment. I'll get back to you on that.

Looking good Jake, What colors the very gonna be?
And i'd try swapping in good known coils. Also since it's been sitting is the gas junk?

Painting it black with single stage paint. Its my first paint job, I cheaped out. If it turns out alright I'll invest in good supplies and try painting the white car.
It has only been sitting two months, gas should be alright. I have a coil pack I'll be testing with this Saturday. Congrats on the engagement by the way Nick. It was nice enough to finish sanding outside today. This was door ding fixes round 2. IMG_8106 by Touge Photo, on Flickr First day I can say I drove all three! IMG_8124 by Touge Photo, on Flickr |

Still have to start wet sanding, then polish. Should clean up a lot.
I'm happy with it. Its definitely drivable in my book. That green it used to have was just a no-go. IMG_8210 by Touge Photo, on Flickr |

Paint job looks pretty good for 1st time. I have a body shop. Did you lay a slight base coat before running it on thicker the second time?
I always lay a light coat and it looks like a rattle can. Than i hit it and lay down a solid coat |

I did a similar process. Light first coat, heavy second. I did it in my small ass garage, with no ventilation. By the end of the first coat my brain was in its own world after breathing in all the fumes. I hustled the second coat on before I passed out and died in there.
It has runs, and some texture. But for the first time painting, I'm satisfied. The wet sanding and polishing should help a lot. IMG_8198 by Touge Photo, on Flickr Last edited by JustTouge; 04-02-2013 at 10:55 AM.. |

Wet Sand the runs down and just Buff it man and it should come out better than a 200$ Maaco paint job. Let me know if you need any tips on painting. <33

Have any recommendation on what grit to start with for the runs? I was thinking 800 grit wet sand and move up. |

start with 1200 grit i would say, and sand all the car up to 2000-3000... you dont wanna eat too much of the paint since you dont have many layers... there are some real soft sanding discs for polishing, that are almost like fabric, they have a foam backing and they come at 2000 to 4000 grit, if you use a DA sander/polisher, you ll be done in no time for big areas ... then polish...but im slightly afraid, since you only shot 1 light and 1 heavy coat, it might be too thin. well, worst case, you just might repaint it!

Depends on how bad the runs are.. You could use 800 and move up. If their real subtle i would just start at 1200 and youll have more room to play with on the paint before you go to deep into it.

You could also try something like this for the runs, Hot or Not? Run Razor | Toolmonger. it will help you not eat through the clear coat.
