550 Inj + Z32MAF + SAFC = ?
Hey guys,
Just wondering if there are many people running this type of setup and if so how well? I am looking for tuning solutions for Nismo 555cc injectors and a Z32MAF. I want to boost 13-14psi on my current setup (T28 turbo). I know technically the larger maf should cancel out the larger injector but dont know how well it actually works. I have been wondering whether to go this route or perhaps try a re-flash. The problem is I dont know if Jim Wolf or Enthalpy do late model S14 ECUs. Scott has been hard to get a hold of lately and I havent talked to JWT yet. Are there any other tuning companies that provide reflashes? |

How does a larger maf cancel out larger injectors? Your ecu doesnt know how to compensate for either of those, thats where the SAFC comes in. Unless you have someone who can help you tune your car I would suggest getting a re-flash. Talk to scott @ enthalpy, hes a good guy, hes AIM alot during the day, if hes away drop him a message and he will get back to you same day usually: Enthalpy1200
Edit: just spoke to scott and he does not in fact do late model s14 ECU's, so JWT is your best bet =]

Well heres one thing, you cant use an SAFC alone anyway. An SAFC is not capable of supporting that big of injectors on a tottally stock computer. Probably best bet to do for you is to get a JWT ecu and then use the SAFC for fine tuning. SAFC's can only support injectors 50% larger than what the computer is programmed for

Heres what you guys are missing:
555cc injectors flow roughly 33% more fuel than stock 370cc inj's, the Z32MAF flows about 33% more air than stock. So if we put those two together they essential cancel themselves out. Then using the SAFC to fine tune it would be the next step. This seems to work on paper but I wanted to know if anyone here has actually run it? Now that I know Scott doesnt do S14s, can anyone confirm if Jim Wolf does? |

I run 550's with a Z32maf, cams, porting, ectr ectr in my S14 and I use a S-afc and wide band to tune, my euro spec S14 did not come with factory O2 (pretty unique w5 ecu) so i cant have it reflashed even if i wanted to but I seem to have it spot on perfect just with the afc at 1.2bar.
I would think the new emanage ultimate with o2 compensation would be a nice idea though. |

Thanks guys,
I spoke to JWT and they do offer a reflash for the late S14 ECUs. I also have an AEM wideband installed so that is what I was going to base my tuning on, obviously. Rezlo, Why do you bring up the factory o2 sensor? Is that a stumbling block for tuning or running larger inj, maf? |

well not having a factory O2 means the ecu has no idea if its running rich or lean during cruizing and cant trim short or long term fuel trim tables as it actualy doesnt use fuel trim tables like most ecu's do, it basicaly just has an efficiency table it runs off all the time.
The nice part is that I can realy fine tune it to how i want it without the ecu trying to compensate, down side is i cant have it flashed, when i get up to 1.5bar its going to create problems not being able to change the A/F and timing tables as needed, im wondering if i cant daughterboard it or somthing like that but ive never heard of anyone doing that with a S14 ecu only the s13's |
