Thanks guys, he's got the stuff to do it, I got some $1k from insurance and I'm getting another $1,400 from another jerk that backed into my quarter panel so the body man is just repainting the whole car and fixing the random shit so I'm trying to spend the least for now

I know bondo makes this bumper repair stuff that works awesome, I used it to fix my piggy lip 5 years ago, I've hit the lip on parking logs speed bumps and driveways and it hasn't broken, it's sandable and flexible, I was thinking I can use that, the top part of the bumper where it's yellow, I used some of that on the under side 5 years ago (had a little left after fixing my lip) and that didn't break when my cousin backed into the car so I may go with that

Its deff fixable. But the question is do you want to spend the cash at the body shop to fix it? If its a good shop they will prob use some type of plastic weld along with a mesh patch kit on the back of the bumper, sand it, use body filler to clean the front and then paint it. Only issue is, there is a high chance that the cracks will come through the paint over time due to weather. Personally I rather buy another bumper. Heck with all that cash your getting ($2400) plus what you can sell your car for I'd personally upgrade to another cleaner s13 or even a s14 instead of trying to repair it.

oem s13 bumpers are made of urethane.
You cannot plastic weld urethane- it will burn. Repair them, using urethane adhesive glue. Urethane glue sticks VERY well to scuffed/sanded urethane plastic and wont pull apart. Using "bondo" to hold the crack together has no strength. I would remove the bumper, use a dremel or a really rough grit sand paper to rough up the back sides of the cracked areas- then use a hot glue gun to hold the cracks in the right spot from the front side (yes, hot glue the whole crack so it holds together). Then use the urethane glue on the crack (flip the bumper over so that you are gluing the crack flat on the floor, not from underneath, which would cause the glue to drip etc. Then, after the glue is fully cured, use needle nose pliers to pull the hot glue off the front side. Bevel the front side using a dremel, making a groove in the original plastic. Then buy a really small drill bit- 1-2mm drill bit and drill holes in that beveled area though out the whole crack. Buy some hobby wire and stitch the crack up. Then use fiberglass filler (bondo hair, or short strand bondo hair filler) to fill over the beveled area where the stitched hobby wire is. Then blocksand smooth and prime . |

you are fucking WRONG. blueshark, allow me. what do i suggest you do? i suggest you take this to a professional bumper repair/refinishing shop that has the plastic welding tools and experience in how to do the repair properly. since you think urethane cannot be plastic welded, i suggest looking up URETHANE SUPPLY channel on youtube. they sell the supplies and show the amount of work these jobs take, using plastic welder in addition to other things. thats what i suggest you do then i suggest you paint your car so it doesnt look like a multi-colored clown car |

LOL THANKS^ yeah it looks like a clown car now, to the person who said sell my car and upgrade to S14, no, my car is clean as fuck, it's a Cali car with no rust, perfect OEM gold paint, like I said the only thing I have to get it's the paint for my car my body man has the rest, he owns his own body shop and has been doing it all his life so I know he's competent, I just wanted to see if the bumper is worth keeping
Oh and "bondo" is a brand, look up their bumper repair kit and read my posts, it dries hard and flexible, that's the only part in the bumper that didn't break when my cousin backed into the car, it's the yellow sanded part on the bumper in front of the passenger head lamp, it still has the crack on top because I didn't fill that part just the under side and it didn't separate The reason I want to see if it's worth fixing because I've been looking forever for a damn bumper and can't find one at a decent price and the ones on eBay are coming from Taiwan and too fucking expensive |

Mishkin_707: You can repair this yourself if you have the patience, it isn't that hard. Buy some tubes of this urethane bond from Selleys: it works very well: Selleys Urethane Bond - Adhesives | Selleys Australia |

yes you can weld plastic/polypropylene/polyurethane.. research it...
on a side note.. and an answer to the OP.. Get a repair kit, or take it to a shop. bondo is no good for structural.. but epoxy.. well.. epoxy is awesome. sand prime and paint.. There are write ups on the subject of bumper repair if I remember correctly. (maybe it's just general body repair??) Whatever tho.. if you have problems finding a shop that will do it, then just order a new bumper.. |
