I got my Kazzama Engine Mounts from Drew. Excelent product at a great price. Most of his product is shipped from japan and takes time to get but, he keeps you updated with the progress. He's also great to bug on AIM with all your JDM product questions.

That is deffinatly a topic of contraversy... remember Auto Imaging/ GP Sports USA... well customers were not the only people who got screwed over and taken. We were new to the market, hell I dont think we were even a year old at that point... at the time our only access to URAS was through them, so we thought. After 6 months of "2 weeks" and then we get notice they closed shop and bankrupt... we realized we got screwed. I hate getting screwed over and lied too more than anything... so to make things right with SilviaDriver... we personally ordered the kit from URAS (so we paid twice). I forget what the actuall time was but its something like 9-10 months from start to finnish. I must be a complete morron because I did the same thing with the current GP Sports USA for an Ings kit and well... its been about a year and half (once again resorting to our contacts in Japan to bail us out) and its arriving today. And yes, I payed extra and did everthing possable to satisfy the customer. I do realize that our contacts are stronger than relying on other companies who claim they can deliver, so if a US comapny doesn't have stock I do resort to our contacts in Japan. Waiting 3-4 months is not very uncommon when dealing with Special Orders to Japan. Peace Drew

yes it took VERY long, but Drew was IMing me very frequently and updating me as much as possible. we would talk about once every two days or somethings almost everyday for a while. not many people would stick by you once you are screwed but Drews man up and kept his word. not many poeple honor all the words that they say. i would of not konwn wat to do in a case like this but Drew took care of everything for me.
the only reason y i did not post how long it took in the initial post was because i did not know the FULL story on everything or everything that was going on in the business side. so i had a feeling somebody was going to ask so ill let Drew answer that in full because it would of been best if he did answer it. do NOT take the time frame that took my kit to get to me that it would be teh same for you. it just so happened we ran into that problem teh same time we ordered something. again RareTrick is way bigger now and im sure with a LOT of better contacts. as you can see in Drews GB, he constantly keeps you updated, andif there is a delay he will let you know. i am only a small person in a large business so the best thing i could of done to repay Drew was to let everybody and anybody i know whom was seeking any such part to go to RareTrick. |

Ordered all my suspension parts from Drew. Great prices and fast shipping. I got my strut bar in less than 24hours. Only thing that took longer was my Kazama tension rods, but thats expected when ordering parts from Japan.

Hurricane Katrina
OK... RARE TRICK is not going down without a fight! I called all our dealers to let then know our situation and they are very willing to help.
I have very little options with shipments from Japan so that is still in the works... Sea Freight is out of the question for now... but EMS is possable. Let me do some more work and I will have full opperations again in a day. Katrina Peace Drew

I'm sure some of you will claim I'm being insensitive to RT's troubles, but here goes.
In short: I will not recommend Rare Trick to any of my friends. Explanation: E-mail was sent on 9/17 (Saturday or Sunday, obviously was not expecting an e-mail right away and serves only to show progression of time) to see if the parts I wanted were in stock. E-mail responded to on 9/19 saying that the parts were "in stock." Parts ordered 9/19. Rita hits on 9/21. I e-mail on 9/26 asking what the deal is. E-mail response on 9/28 saying the parts will arrive in another week. (My thought was that in stock meant ready-to-ship.) I respond on 9/28 and express my displeasure. RT responds on 9/28 and explains that the "in stock" parts were really in-stock at their dealer, who told RT that they would drop-ship the parts to me but when RT got the bill they said no and had it sent there so they could ship it theirselves. No correspondence between 9/28 and 10/7. 10/7 items ship 10/13 or 10/14 (estimated) items will arrive. I am sure I am not the only person who feels that if a shop claims a part is in stock, it had damn well be on their shelves. I feel relatively let down about the entire thing. The only plus side is that the parts were a good price compared to other stores. I wouldn't say that they're horrible, but I wouldn't recommend them either. |

Well, given that they are functioning against several disadvantages at this time,
delays should be expected. But it sounds like you got your product at the price you wanted. I don't particularly like these threads because it gives people whimsical opportunities to devistate a companies reputation whether or not they intended so. If there is a justifiable incident like fraud or whack product, then it is justified. But i think most people can separate the wheat from the chaff here. |

We focus on Importing so if you ask if something is "in-stock"... That means to me "In The USA" because eather way (my shop or dealers) its going to get to you in a reasonable time.
Yes my dealer stated he would assist by drop-shipping the product then pulled a 180 ($40 in fees)... so yes I ordered multiple items and had the parts shipped to us... I thought everything was clear in our conversation and if you were not truely staisfied or understanding you should have mentioned it to me... I do go to great extents to make sure our customers are happy. (ask SilviaDriver) I hope you reconsider... Peace Drew

Stock-S13: Drew, I hate to resort to this but I have written several e-mails and left voicemails regarding my wheels with out a reply. I understand you have been busy, but i have been trying to come in contact with you for 2 months without a reply. everything was fine you responded to my e-mails until late october or so'. Ever since I have had doubts, but believed you would come through.
If you could please e-mail me at Th1_Rhs13 at Verizon.net to discuss the matter further. I really am becoming concerned about this matter. |

Rare Trick
June 16, 2007 - I ordered a Garage Defend GT cooling panel for my 240sx. Of course knowing it was a special order item I allowed time for my order to arrive.
July 18, 2007- I take it upon myself to check on my order since I have heard nothing about it since it was ordered. Drew tells me he sent me a email on that very day(july 18) which read: "Price increase is due to a huge worldwide shortage in Carbon Fiber. We were not aware that Garage Defend had increased their prices... normally we would have opted to obsorb the cost, however the increase is dramatic so we are not able to do so." So why did it take four weeks to tell me this? I asked for a refund. Fast Forward to today - I have yet to recieve my refund. Last edited by bboyoracle; 08-01-2007 at 03:26 PM.. |

The price of carbon fiber has increased a while ago. Not exactly sure when, but it has been months. The military is buying it all up. The cost of most metals has gone up also.
I have only ordered one thing from them and had good service. Try calling him again and see whats going on.

there always was a shortage and its even worse now. i have the GT cooling panel which i bought from him and shortly after i bought it he told me the price was increasing. its totally legit.
hes responds to my emails the day after and i catch him on AIM all the time. taken from raretrick: "Q: Why does a Special Order from Japan take a minimum of 8 weeks to arrive? A: The reason most places that Import from Japan say 8 weeks (minimum). (1) Money Transfer - 3 days to 1 week (2) Made to Order - 2 to 4 weeks (3) Collection of Parts - 1 to 4 weeks, depending on processing. (4) Loading or Packing - 2 to 3 days (5) Schedule Sea Freight - this wait is unknown... basically wait for the correct boat to port, clear Japan Customs before loading, etc..etc.. alot of stuff we have no control over!! (6) Port in US and unload, then wait to clear customs - 1 week to 4 weeks depending on how Customs feel that day. (7) Transport to warehouse, unload, inventory, check damage, repackage, label to correct buyer, collect and schedule shipping to buyer!! This is a very timly process. I do not suggest this method if working on a timeframe." raretrick is awesome. drews a real cool down to earth guy and i have never heard of a bad experience with him. it seems like all the negative things ive heard result in people having no patience.

I'm not questioning the time it takes to recieve or his legitimacy rather the length of time it took for him to tell me that the price has gone up (approx. 4 weeks) and the fact that i have not recieved my refund.

Bad Experience with Rare Trick
quick recap:
Tried to jump on the supermade group buy back some time around January. Ordered 2 supermade exhausts and some checkered carpets for a friend and myself. A while goes by(month and a half), supermade messes up and the exhausts cannot be ordered because of a shipping weight issue. Still waiting for my friends floor mats and a couple of months go by. He offers me a refund which I decline since they're floor mats and I guess i could wait it out. Drew says they are going to be shipped end of this month (which was May). End of May comes, now they're supposively going to ship out the carpets end of June. Which brings me to now. 8 months, and I don't have any floor mats Makes me sad. No real communication with the seller or updates to let me know what was happening. |
