Where is the Power Steering Fluid Reservoir - Zilvia.net Forums | Nissan 240SX (Silvia) and Z (Fairlady) Car Forum

I've never had to add power steering fluid in my 240 but now I have to and I can't figure out where the reservoir is. I can see two reservoirs besides the brake fluid but both have no indication as to what they are for. Your help will be appreciated. What does the cap have printed on it and where is it? This is for a ka24de. Thanks again.

the reservoir its located on the drivers side strut tower

It's the one that has hoses leading from it to the steering pump and rack.

oh man.

its in front of 2 you seen, on strut tower on right if looking at engine bay from front.
Its greenish brown. about the size of a small peanuts can, black cap. you can use atf.

also, if you look at the parts you see, you can easily look at the lines / hoses and figure it out. I beg you to try harder. Its clearly connected by a hose 2 feet long.

Sorry guys, problem was that I just bought my second 240 and the engine bay is so greasy that you can't really see where any hoses end. I added fluid but it still dosen't soften up. I'm also degreasing the engine right now.

Just make sure you use Dexron III ATF and not 'power steering fluid'.

And retighten all the clamps. They like to loosen up over time.

To the OP, I have gone through 2 power steering pumps in the 200+k that i've owned my car, so make sure the pump is even working properly and that the lines are not leaking. Even a tiny leak can get air in there, so check hoses/clamps too like projectRDM said.

definitely a good suggestion. i would even go as far as replacing all of the clamps that you are willing to dig for on the P/S system. i know my car came with those shitty clamps that look like 2 wires and a screw and they dont hold anything very securely. i replaced all of them and now my hoses are good to go
