How involved or how difficult is it? I NEVER EVER use it even when it's over 100 degrees out so I figure I'll it out.

Also is it saleable? Id there people around that will buy everything?

it is easy, vent system remove lines, remove belt and pump, if you want to remove rad to get at condencer then put back rad, should be like 30 min of work

I removed the entire HVAC system from my 240 and including removing the interior i would say about 4 hours but I had my engine pulled so everything was easier to get to though

as for sale of the parts IDK i threw all of it in the dumpster at my apartment

You take a 3.5 hour break in there somewhere?

You can pull everything, even the evaporator core, in 30 minutes. And it's all aluminum so you can make a good buck taking it to a recycling yard.

please does not vent the system to atmosphere. just take it somewhere to have it sucked out. they should do it for free since you are giving them the refrigerant. it doesn't cost much for r134a but if you have r12; they could have gotten like $60min for a 2lbs charge.

I had problems getting the plenum out from under the dash and a lot of time was spent removing the dashboard to get the plenum out of there

The AC belt and PS belt are independent of each other. You just take one off and leave the other alone.

Yea it's not too bad. I removed all my AC after installing my sr20det. Planned to keep AC, so left it in, and had some complications fitting the AC compressor so I decided to pull it all out with the sr20 installed. Not hard at all. Good luck.

Also, if you decide to remove AC, go ahead and remove the condensor too. It looks just like a radiator and is located right in front of radiator.

I noticed a lot better cooling from my supra once I removed condensor (less blockage between radiator and front of car). Not to mention some more weight savings. The 240 seems to like it too

No, you only need to remove dash if you want to take out entire HVAC (heating, venting etc).

For just AC you don't have to go behind there at all. You can also leave those 2 nipples for the AC lines going into firewall untouched. Just remove the lines from them and you'll be left with 2 threaded ends coming out of firewall.

Thank gawd. My interior is so nice. I really hate to rip the dash out of a 16 year old car fearing it wouldn't go back in as nicely as it was.

I removed all my stuff in about 45 mins as well.....really easy to do. You don't have to remove the dash to remove the evaporator either.....little trickt to get all the screws, but once you get them just slide out the plastic housing, remove evap, and reinstall housing....

And with regards to the condensor....just unbolt the radiator and tilt back....condensor will slide right out...

And like others have said....you should notice a significant difference in how warm the car runs (if you have a aftermarket temp gauge). Mine runs about 10 degress cooler while daily driving...

Wasn't required to do. The evaporator can be removed without taking the dash out. Just pull the glovebox. Nearly all cars are designed to have the evaporator removed without heavy disassembly, I worked in an A/C shop for a while and there was never a car that wasn't accessible with just a little work. Removing the heater core is where it gets involved.

For those who leave it in the dash, cap the lines on the firewall side in case you ever plan to use it again, moisture will ruin the expansion valve inside if it's left open.

I know I statet teh amout of time it took me because i removed the entire system (heat, AC, All controls and mechanisms relating to ventalation) All that is in my car for venting is a three speed fan ducted into my defog system other than that I have no ventelation system which is why i had to remove the dash...because the whole thing cannot come out unless you do.

Seems like a lot of you guys are chuckin your HVAC systems. I have no desire to do that i suppose because my car's all street and i'd die out here in Cali w/o air con. I'm going for the luxurious yet powerfully clean and comfy street car. (98 S14 w/lsd btw)

What are the pros of losing the system besides weight reduction and more room in the engine compartment?

If you pull your entire HVAC system and your wind sheild gets foggy... what then? Roll down the window?
Air con's one thing i can understand livin w/o but the entire HVAC system, i'm missing something i think.

Just curious fellas.

Ditching the HVAC also frees up HP lost through parasitic drag from the compressor

as for the defog my post above covered that all you need is the defog ducting and a fan and you have that covered

I have another car to be luxurious and fast with I stripped this because I want a nasty car for raising hell and frightning old people and to perform some track duty with not to mention i have a few cars with no air/con already and even in the 100 degree heat and high humididty out here in the midwest in summer I still drive them all you just have to adjust to it. It wouldn't matter anyways for me though cuz my car has a sunroof hole but no sunroof right now as well so having air doesn't matter much anyways
