can anyone tell me if the flywheel/pressure plate are stock:

The flywheel looks and feels brand new, also this motor had a greddy oil cooler adapter still on it that i took off, so im guessing it was setup more than stock originally.
checked compression while I was out there: 165, 163, 165, 159

maybe you shoudl pop the valve cover off as well as the head and see if you got any free internal work. maybe theres a reason they were packin that clutch.
btw congrats, its always cool when people get stuff in their clips as a surprise liek that.

in my opinion i rather have a clean stock motorset, modded ones usually tend to be under more abuse than stock ones. this could just be me though

well compression came up awesome, turbo is in good condition, motor is very clean looks like low milage, i think he JUST put this stuff on cuz of the amount of padding on the clutch left and the condition of the flywheel

hmmm does anyone think my flywheel looks like this: http://www.silkroad-usa.com/pages/pages_graphics/silvia_flywheel.jpg
that's very comon.
Someone on FA cracked open his tranny and found an OS Giken Twin plate clutch lol.
I've seen some front clips with aftermarket cams and head jobs.

when u buy a new clutch do u always have to buy a new pressure plate?? it seems like a waste of money to have a os giken twin plate clutch system and pressure plate from os giken and if the clutches wears out u have to buy a whole new one? and most likey u wont have the money to buy the os so youll just buy a cheaper single plate one

so should I use the clutch or sell it? it says its a racing clutch so i think its gonna be a little too harsh for daily traffic, also it can handle alot more power than im looking to make so I figured its a waste

remove flywheel and weigh it.

just use it.
and yeh i know that they do sell just the clutch plate, but my school instructor said its better to change the pressure plate too. how long do pressure plates usually last

I got a free three puck with my clip. It wasn't too bad for daily duties but there was quite a bit of chatter in 1st when just pulling away normally. When grabbing gears it felt great!!! I missed that clutch when I finally killed it. I got a SPEC stage II after that and it just sucked.

hmmm, how did you kill a 3 puck clutch, everyone i know(mostly rx-7 owners) are telling me to stay away from puck clutches, because you will kill your tranny/drive train parts before the clutch

When I got the clip we looked at the 3-puck and decided that it was on it's way out. After a trip to VIR it "gave up the ghost' and died.

I got a 3 puck with my CA18DET and I love it. I would just keep it man, no point in selling it IMO.

i just remember driving my rx-7 with a puck clutch and 1st gear was always hard to start moving in

if its a sprung disk its not that bad, but if its unsprung it should chatter a lot.

Sorry to resurrect a month old thread, but I thought i'd share what clutch my SR Blacktop came with.
3 puck clutch:

Argh! Look at the clutch material:

[email protected]/PIC00018.JPG
And here's what it did to my flywheel. $70.00 to resurface that thing

Luckily I bought a new ACT Street/Strip clutch. Which, unfortunately, has been ruined by a rear main seal leak. :bash:

three puck is overkill id sell it. i have a six puck and its kinda overkill but i got it new. the three puck looks a little worn so if you have a new one id throw it in. but your flywheel looks aftermarket. my stock ones looks different from that. like old s13 said just weigh it. it its stock it'll be heavy as shit.

the higher the puck, does it last longer? or it has no effect. just how hard it grabs

statik, mine cam with the EXACT sme setup. Silkroad clutch, and thats a TODA flywheel. It should only be 10 lbs. Resurface it and use it.
btw, how did u find out that its a silkroad? i typed in the white letters into google and eventually found the silkroad website.
the guy that got the OS giken twin plate... if you are talking about my buddy Greg form T.O. he also found an HKS GT25R on his engine too....lucky bastard

On a side note, if some of you didnt know my car is running mint with an ACT Stree/Strip =]

I need to crack open my sr to see what i got.. it has "Pitwork" engine belts, is that a aftermarket brand? I coulda swarn seeing the same logo on a race car like in JGTC or something... or is it maybe just like a AUTOZONE replacement type brand....? My SR had HKS plugs in it, so i might have to see what else it has...
