This kit I bought from lowes! It works like a revers drill bit! I simply just drilled a small hole in the center of the bolt then used the kit and reversed the drill and it came right out! Comes in handy!

I don't see why spend time fabbing up a fire wall and stuff when you could have easily spent 500+ on a front clip and more time fabbing to get it to work and look just as good as you made it hidden behind a dash??

I don't agree with twinspool, this guy could have just spent $700+ on a rhd clip, waited for it to come in, cut out one fire wall then cut the other (don't forget the wipers), and welded it in and in the end spending more time on it, but he just chose the path that saves you money and time and will work just as good and look just as good hidden behind a dash... don't praise this thread!!!
LMAO jk I'm the one doing the fab work on this car, I'm just talking crap hahahahh

Make sure you follow the tightening sequence per FSM. If you dont follow it, you're liable to snap more cam retainer bolts.

Please tell me this is a joke. You can't run mild grade hardware in place of camshaft cap bolts.

I would personally never replace any internal engine hardware with a bolt that isn't application specific. Your engine your call though!
projectkouki
04-07-2013, 06:47 AM
I agree with what you are saying! I wouldnt have bought them if the owner of the only bolt store here that had bolts that worked didnt tell me that these bolts are made for engine wear and tare. Besides I got to thinking after I bought the bolts that ill only replace the ones that snapped. So the picture I posted is misleading...

Dude you should NOT use those bolts to hold your cam caps. They are Fully Threaded. Stock ones are NOT and there is good reason for them not being fully threaded.
The shank (non threaded portion) of the stock bolt is bigger in diamater then the threaded portion, so that the fit in the cap is tight. Your Fully threaded bolts will leave a gap, which will inturn make it impossible to achieve the fully required clamping load of the caps. Furthermore the threads can act as a slow speed mill and eventually distort the holes in the caps.

This is true. Im not going to use them! I'm going with original bolts. Just need to find some.
