You should'nt feel like a geezer, you're only as old as you live. I race motocross and that is an all ages sport from 3yrs old to 70+. Ryan Villapoto's grand father still races at 70 something any everone loves it and cheers him on. So just keep doin what you enjoy no matter how old you are.

I've always liked 240's since my friend's older brother would show me these "option" VHS tapes of cars driving around tracks and mountain passes, when I was in Grade school (GR 7-8). I had a S14 for a few years out of high school then sold it.

That being said, I'll always be tinkering with cars till I'm old and grey. It just might not be a 240...

The reason the forum isnt filled with more younger guys is because of drift tax.
They cant afford to get into a 240, cause they now cost over 2K.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one over 25 on here, I'm 30. I lurk mostly and search enough that I don't have to post anything. Been a long time member of Lexus forums... purchased my first 89 240 a year ago from a broke kid who barely knew how to do simple math. When I took ownership it was a complete mess. I did him a favor since he didn't have money to fix it up. I already have my "dream" car but wanted to get back to where I started out...4cyl cars. Except this time with a different make and model. Of course I had to choose the s13....its pimp. Bought the car and immediately bought a back up ka24e for dirt cheap and rebuilt it and put it in last month. Im still a work in progress but its been definitely fun to do on the side to relieve stress....I may swap out to ls1 as soon as someone legitimately passes a ref inspection in CA with documents to prove it.

haha i remember the first video i downloaded was an option drift video in 2001, then bought my first s14 240 with an SR in it already for 10K in 2002, i was 17 and paid cash. I remember when i took it to college and no one had seen an SR20 before, man i felt special! everyone had eclipse's, civics, and eagle talons, and it was rare to see a 240.

Im 26 and still have the same SR and it's in its 3rd 240.

I bought my first and only S13 coupe in 2001, did some lame light up shift knob that melted in the Cali sun the first day I put it In and put the light up windshield washer nozzles that lasted a month before I cut the wires and painted them black, that the most river I got, til this day I have that car just did the brown to black interior conversion last night, I'm 29 going on 30 next April and I still love my car and I have the same exact feeling when driving it as the first day I bought it. I figured that feeling would go away but it hasn't, I still feel badass in my $3000 car....lol I've had a 85 ford Ltd with 5.0 mustang engine, a 97 eclipse spider get, 99 prelude, 93 bronco, 08 tC and a 96 talon tsi, I've since sold those cars but never could sell my S13, in 08 when I got divorced my ex wanted to take my S13 I damn near cried because I love my car that much.

Just to add, I bought my S13 because my old ford Ltd broke down, went looking for a new car and I saw the 240sx, I just fell in love with the look and color (champagne gold) but I didn't want to jump to the first car I saw, went all day looking and looking but that lil gold car wouldn't get out of my head, so I went back to the lil dealer and as I was getting there and old couple had just gotten back from test driving the lil gold car, I ran in and asked if they bought the lil gold car, the guy said no so I yelled, "I'll take it!" didn't know what the car was all about, I had never heard of a 240sx but I just loved how it looked, I've since learned so much about the "240sx" about three years after I owned the car I learned it was the Nissan Silvia in japan, I freaked out because when I was a kid and the first gran turismo game came out, my favorite car was the Nissan Silvia s13, it was so awesome.

Like I said, everytime I get into my 240, I still have the same excited feeling as the day I brought her home.

I've only had my Zenki for two years but I love it almost as much as the Evo I used to own. My younger brother found my 240 on Craigslist for $1000. A clean S14 SE with 130K, clean interior, leather, manual tranny, and all the service records in the glove box. All it needed was a rear brake caliper, suspension arms, wheel tire and shocks. Some of the parts my younger brother already had because he also owns a Zenki. This car runs like it only has 30K miles.

Couldn't agree more. Luckily for me, I sold all mine and never crashed/parted them out. Hard to believe that between 5 people they can go through 50 240s...but such is life. On a lighter note, I may be buying back my first that I ever owned! That was like 6 years ago and its still alive today!

Currently, it is getting a motor rebuild and some restoration work which is taking too long but I still love every minute of it. Just bought my first S14, well my first 240 in general, i am only 20 years old, my addiction to cars started with my 83' 280zx, my dad bought it for me when i turned 12, fixed it, sold it lol, but after that my second car was a 83 toyota celica supra p-type, man did i love that car, did a 7m-gte swap and all the good shizznit, sold it again. say in about eight years i have had an 83' 280zx, 83' toyota supra, 78' 280z that i still have, 83' toyota corolla, 91' 300zx, 95' nissan sentra se-r, 95' saab 9000 pushing 25 pounds of boost, still have that car as well, too bad i blew my tranny for the third time.

I wasn't 'into' anything but classics until after I graduated high school. A co-worker's brother-in-law came down from CA to visit and he brought his s13. It actually looked like something out of F&F. lol. I liked the body style, but didn't know shit about it. Also didn't know anything about drifting until I got to Okinawa, but I like the car for it's lines, so I wanted to build one.

Just turned 22 on Halloween this year.
Came to the USA on Sept 2009 from New Caledonia which is a small French Island in the Pacific ocean. So by the time I left my Island, they were barely starting to import 200sx (yep the JDM one) so it means I couldn't get one earlier (my bad for being young).
Got my first 240 on March 2010, the day my girlfriend broke up with me. Maybe because of the car, who knows. It was a 96 with a bunch of goodies and it looked horrible. Fixed it up, made it look ok, crashed it 1 month after I was done (Xmas 2010). I was expecting it anyway since it was my first car.
Got my second 240 in sept this year. S13 coupe SOHC with rod knock. Going for VH45 swap now.
Meanwhile I've been working on bunch of 240 and other nissans like G35 and 350Z. I can't count them.
That's my experience with the nissans :)

PS: a zenki in New Caledonia goes for $22,000.

My mom bought a hatch brand new in 92. Once I hit about 14 they said that would be my car if I wanted it or my grandmas FC rx-7 (non turbo). I chose the 240 because I thought it looked better and it wasn't from the 80's. I remember back then no one even knew wtf a 240sx was. I had people ask me if it was a supra lol. Shops only knew honda and eclipse shit. You had to know someone to get a sr20....or any decent parts for that matter. Drifting was pretty much unheard of back then, direct reflection of the crappy FWD import scene America was back then. I'm 27 now, have had 4 or 5 s13's over the years. I'v just been building and collecting parts since I was a teen. Buying advans, titanium exhaust, big brake kits, JUN parts etc as 19-21 year old. I remember I skipped my senior trip and used that money for coilovers lol. Slow progress when you have to save up for that shit on weak ass job status. But it all comes together once you age and land a real career. I'm glad I was disciplined enough to save and buy that stuff as a kid/young adult. Taught me money management skills. I plan on having this 240 for as long as I live. I learned how to drive in one and have had one my whole driving career. Well, one in the family since I was 7 if you look at it from the beginning. Owned my first 240sx when I was 18 (or was I 19?) Anywho, had shitty car accident and replaced it with a 87 Honda Accord DX sedan. Purchased a running, piece of shit condition 240sx as a project for 900 out the door (used car dealer). The Honda Accord started to give me problems one after another so I junked it and purchased a 96 Nissan 240sx. Daily drove that for about 2 years before deciding to get something with 4 doors. Purchased an 04 Subaru WRX Wagon from South Coast Subaru and sold the S14 a week later.

My second S13 is no longer in piece of shit condition and runs/drives amazing! Been enjoying the WRX since day one of owning it. I'll be turning 28 in 2012.

My first and only S14 240sx bought in 2002...still have the same chasis and I am 28 now. Car had 61k original miles and was completely mint and garage kept. Purchased the car from 2nd owner for $4500 with sound system, rims, and a kick ass alarm haha.

The car has gone thru 4 different setups and is currently in the 5th and final attempt. First SR20 swap was in the summer of 2002. Reason I chose to go with swap was because the KA really only had support and mods from Jim Wolf. Bought an entire front clip froma 180sx from Underground Racing who purchased it thru Venus Auto.Did the Sr swap then dropped in a "Disco Potato" turbo.....lmao I am dating myself.

Since I bought the 240sx I have owned a Nissan Sentra, VW Golf (modded), Audi A4, and a 2002 M3 (Modded heavily) all which were sold....the damn M3 made it to a Euro mag with the new owner doing some sick upgrades on the motor lol. Somehow I felt more at peace selling the M3 and not the 240sx.

My family always laughs because they call it a "stupid car" but I think I will end up hanging onto this one as long as I can. I even turned down buying a new M3 and S5 in order to keep the 240sx and work on it slowly.......CRAZY i know
