So I tried to do some research to see if anyone asked this question and came up with a "partial" answer over at this thread:

JesusFreakDriver says to someone (can't find who) that they used a ka24de transmission on the CA18DET and asked if the driveshaft lined up which dvdeo confirmed, but, I was wondering if anyone else has done this? I can't find anymore information on it (at least I wasn't able to)

KA tranny won't bolt straight up. you will need the CA bell housing.

My CA transmission was trashed when I bought it out of Montreal, I got a trans off a KA24 from a pick and pull as the only difference is the bell housing and 5th gear CA=0.83 vs. KA=0.76 rebuilt it with $650 in parts and it is excellent. Good luck finding a CA case.
