I'm trying to get my auto meter tach to work with my s14 sr. I have the auto meter tach adapter (part # atm-9117) and an Ultralite series 3 3/8" gauge but it still doesn't seem to work.
The tach is wired properly so no worries there, but I'm not sure if I have the tach adapter wired right or not. The way I have it is:
Black- Ground
Gray- To Tach Signal Input
Red- Coil Packs 12v+ wire (blue wire on engine harness)
Red/Green- Coil Packs 12v+ wire (same as above)

This is how the instructions seemed to reccommend but I am still getting no reading at all on my tach. I'm trying to find info from someone who has done this before since all the searches I've found come to a dead end.
I know there are people out there using auto meter tachs on sr's so please chime in if you can help! Thanks

so I read somewhere that you're suppossed to tap the red/green signal wire from the tach adapter to all 4 coil pack signal wires after they leave the igniter chip, but I'm hesitant to try it because it seems like every time one coil pack get a signal then it would send the signal to the other three as well since they would all be connected to the same wire. seems like a good way to fry an ecu, but I could be wrong..?
Anyone??

On the coil pack 12+ wire, cut it and the other end connects to the red and the other connects to the red/green. I think this is what I did...just try it.Goodluck!
