alright, so a 2 days ago my car started making this high pitched noise.
almost sounds like a semi truck.
so i figured the alternator was going bad. my lights would go bright whenever i revved my car etc..
at first it wasn't to bad, it would only get really loud when i got to the higher rpms.
then it started doing it right when i would turn on the car. would do it for a few seconds then just go down, but continue to do it at high speeds.
so i went and switched out the alternator(the pulley on the old one seemed to be super loose)
started up fine and everything..but when i drove away the noise comes back at around 2500, the same semi truck sound noise i was mention, then at about 3500, it gets really high pitched. i dunno wtf it is..thought it was the alternator for sure. its quite aggravating. :rant2:
could it be one of the pulleys or anything?
thanks in advanced

Have you inspected your belts?
My dad's old Nissan Pickup used to do this. It was caused by old/worn belts.
Swap them out. They're cheap and easy to replace. That should fix your problem.

ill try to get a video of the sound. hopefully u guys can make the sound out, cause it gets really at 3500 rpms, so hopefully the high pitched sound doesnt get too drowned out.
i actually only inspected the alternator belt, and it looked in pretty good condition still. didnt inspect the other belts tho. i figured the alternator belt was the one being lame, since changing the alternator somewhat helped out with the problem.
ill check em tho.

alright. super late, i know. but i finally changed the belts. the noise would end up going away sometimes and then it would come back -.-;
so now, the car sounds a lot better.
i had gotten to a point where the car would make the high pitched noise when i would start the car on cold days. i would rev it a couple of times to make it go away.
so i changed all the belts, and the car stopped making the sound.
only prob is that it would make it when i would rev the car to 4500(was testing it)
so we tightened up the belts a little bit cus we left one a little loose, and now it makes the noise at 3000 rpms.
do i just gotta mess with the belts and find the right tension to tighten them at or what?
thanks in advanced
(oh yeah, when i removed the belts, one of em looked really worn down)

My car makes that noise when I start it up in the morning, but it goes away as soon as I have turned it on, and the thing is I have dual electric fans?
