Got a '95 VH45DE from a local yard as a base for my drag car. Now I've decided to stay KA-T.
Asking $450 OBO. Depending on the distance, can also work out getting the motor to you...I'm in the Greenville, SC area.

hows the motor condition? miles?

Motor is at a friend of mine's shop...can't remember off the top of my head what the listed mileage was. General inspection (without being able to crack it open at the yard) led me to believe that it is in good condition. Still has the tag on it, so I'll run by the shop tomorrow and check the mileage listing, plus take a couple more pics.

Didn't have time to get over to my friend's shop today, but I did call him and asked him to check out the mileage listing on the motor...177K on the clock when it was pulled. If you want pictures from other angles let me know and I'll get them ASAP, which will most likely be Monday.

All depends on what you want to do. What are your (or your friends' if they will be helping you) fabrication skills like? Or will you require a mostly bolt on setup, requiring as little fabrication as possible?

i dont have many skills at all but ive got friends who im sure can do a little bit of something. haha

I think there is a page that talks about a VH45 swap on nico somewhere....it's ALOT of fab work...I think it was the whole exhaust system, plus some mounts....just search "VH45DE swap" on google....I don't think this is a first-swap choice lol

NICO has a whole subforum dedicated to the VH & VK family of Nissan motors...head over there if you want to read more in depth on the VH swap.
Mazworx now provides a great deal of the components necessary for the VH into the S chassis swap, bridging the gap for those who either don't have the fabrication skills or don't trust the quality of work that their local shops can provide.
Mazworx can provide everything to get the drivetrain in your car for $1550:
The kit includes: motor mounts, machine work, hardware, adapter plate, shifter, brackets, one-piece driveshaft, etc.. You source the transmission (90-96 NA or TT Z32) and send Mazworx the bellhousing (or you can purchase the tranny from Mazworx for $750). Then they send you back the kit with a machined bellhousing. This is enough to get the drivetrain mounted in your car.
headers: $895
intake system: $159
conversion harness: $240
ecu from a local yard: $75
upgrade tune from mazworx: $375
Z32 tranny from Mazworx or you source locally: $750
custom exhaust from the headers back: $300
So you're looking at about $4500, probably closer to $5000 to give a little room for miscellanous items. That doesn't include labor if you are going to pay some else to do the install. Or if you have some buddies who have pulled a motor or a tranny before then the Mazworx setup should get you rolling. I can help you out with the rom tune if you want to save a few bucks there.
Used to be that for the VH swap, you had to either notch the frame in order to get the oil filter to spin on, or some people just went ahead and did a filter relocation setup instead. I'm not sure how the Mazworx motor mounts address the oil filter situation...if it was me, I'd go ahead and do the oil filter relocation, which allows an oil cooler to easily be added either now or later on down the road, depending on how hard you beat on the motor...
Check out the S13 hatch in this video...VH has torque on tap across the _entire_ powerband:

Sorry for the image quality...the camera on the new BlackBerry Curves sux. Also, don't know why, but for some reason I thought the motor was from a '95...it's actually from a '94...

I'm probably just under 4 hours from Beaufort. If we could work something out and depending on scheduling, I could probably get it down to you on a weekend that I'm heading to Charleston.

Just left you a PM and text. It's going to make me sad to see it go, but this motor really deserves a happy home that will show it the love it deserves. :)

Yes, I do. Never had anyone express interest close enough to me to make it worth the effort to sell/transport. I was planning to start a rebuild later this month if I still have it. Are you interested?

I am how much would you want for it shipped to 92128.....yes its San Diego. I cant find one out here that is clean.

01-03-2011, 03:14 PM
Freight is going to run about $200...I'm asking $450, so that would total ~$650. You're going to need to have it shipped to a commercial location that does a good bit of freight shipping and has the means for forklifting a pallet off of a truck...also because freight companies won't ship to a home address.
You're in San Diego...have you tried any of the listings on car-part.com? I just checked and saw that there were quite a few available...might be easier (and cheaper) to try and find one a bit closer to you. Let me know your thoughts...thanks.

Motor is no longer for sale. Started rebuilding it a couple weeks ago and bought a rolling S13 shell to put it in. Mods please close this thread, thanks.
